Hello Maya, and Maya's family, welcome to the best pet cancer and etc. support group in the world.
So sorry for the awful diagnosis of crappy cancer, many of us have gone down this road as well. My sweet angel Polly had a different type cancer that she ultimately lost her leg to, hemangiosarcoma, but we fought a great battle and she beat this aggressive cancer for more than double the prognosis, and I believe her chemo we chose to do was a huge reason why. Like others have said, though, this is definitely very much a personal decision and choice. My Polly did have quite a rough time with her chemo till we were able to manage her intense nausea, vomitting, and diarrhea, but I am glad we decided on doing the chemo.
You mentioned Maya and her not eating or drinking well, it very well could be her pain. I have learned from others here dealing with osteosarcoma in their fur babies, that it is extremely painful for them. Most of the time, just getting rid of their very painful limb makes a world of difference for them.
Everyone here has already given really great advice, so I just wanted to add my personal experience with chemo and my special girl, Polly.
Thinking of you as you prepare for surgery with Maya, and also with your upcoming onco appt. We are all here to help you in any way we can.

Maya may not feel like eating because of all the things you mentioned. Mention this to your vet and he may be able to give you something to coat Maya's tummy if the pain meds are rhe culprit. Maybe the vet will cut the Advil.back..maybe? Or suggest a Pepcid half hoir before you give her the pain meds.
Pain can ddefinitely alter her appetite.
As hard as it is, keep your energy strong and confident and upbeat. Maya is obviously very tuned I to you and will pick up on your energy.
Is it possible that her surgery can be any sooner? Two weeks from now seems a little long for your Maya to have to deal with the pain. I'm sure they're scheduling it as soon as they can, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Hang in there! We're right by your side!
Love and hugs to all!

Ok that's really good to hear. Yes, dogs do feel much better without that bad leg, it's such awful pain. Use this time to prepare your home and yourself for the recovery. Put traction down, raise her food and water bowls, make sure she has a comfy confined space and breathe. You can get through this!
As a bonus, by the time Maya is on her way home from the hospital, she'll have her new Tripawd Power charm ready to wear!

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
Best wishes today, stay strong and positive, your gorgeous girlie will be home with you soon We have opt'd for Chemo for Zuki - Carboplatin and we start the first of 5 doses on Thursday. For me (as I know others have said) I needed to know I gave him the chance and we tried. If it doesn't suit him we will stop. I continue to update his blogs with his progress and it will be lovely to follow Maya's story. Brace yourself for the next 2 weeks but stay hopefully and focus on the future - it will get better after the initial post op care.
Good luck and cant wait to see more pics 🙂
Zuki Wuggafer 30/09/06 - 11/11/16. Right hind tripawd due to Osteosarcoma. He had a strong 5 and half months as a tripawd but unfortunately a secondary issue with his spine ended our battle. He loved life, loved our family and was the best dog I could ever ask for. Truly my first love, forever in my thoughts and heart.

Ditto the others! We are all thinking about you and Maya.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
So I wanted to update everyone on Maya. She is doing well and seems happy. She was down and out for about 3 weeks or so but this week we are up to walking (more like jogging) a half mile around the block. We opted not to do chemo and oddly enough she has another cancer growth but it's not related to the bone cancer. Like many of you have said, she just knows she is happy and feels good and that's what we are focusing on. Getting the bad leg amputated was defiantly the right decision for us
