Hey all!!
Vet just called me and stated she wanted to use the transdemeral patch on Duchess tomorrow morning, but wanted to know if I could swing by tonight and have the patch put on as it takes up to 12 hours to start working OR put the patch on right away when I drop her off in the morning and then just manage the pain with a lot of shots until it kicks in tomorrow night. What are your findings on this? Should I get the patch on her tonight?
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
OH darn! Wish I would have seen this earlier, I'm sorry. What did you decide?

LOL! All those are great ideas! i have plenty of both waiting for me. Duchess did well with the surgery this morning. I pick her up after work (they won't keep her tonight as they don't have anybody to stay). I dropped her off by 730 this morning and they put the patch on at that time. Doc is keeping her comfortable and the patch should kick in for bedtime tonight. I am anxious. I know she will do well and this was the right thing...but...I guess I am just worried about her. I can't place it yet. Almost like I have been in denial this past week. In fix it mode. I just hope I don't freak out when I pick her up.
You have a huge advantage over a LOT of people (me included) because you found this site before the amp instead of after. Knowing what to expect and that there are a bunch of us here ready and willing to give you support puts you ahead of the game. Plus, those hints thatnSally came up with, as well as Penny's, are invaluable.
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Yep! We understand those emotins. And as Kathi said, to have the support here is invaluable!
You will be so happy Duchess is home, all your worries will start to subside. AND, when the full recovey kocks in....you will be beyond happy!!
Okay! We'll be looking for your next post! Heck, I'm gnna jump the gun.....WELCOME HOME DUCHESS,!!
Hugs and love!

So glad to hear she's doing well and made it through. Don't worry, you won't freak out. You will be the same strong, courageous person you were when you made the decision to proceed. Love conquers all, even scary times like this. Keep us posted and let us know how we can help.
Hugs to you and Duchess!
