Another one? Poor girl. Hopefully, this one can also be removed clean, and now you know the magic drug combo. . .
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
The tumor was larger and deeper than expected. It had gone into the muscle, so some of that had to go to. She believes they got cleans margins, so fingers crossed. She's having a hard time laying down since it's on the leg she lays on. Meds at 8pm.
I've made it public, so you should be able to see it here (click on date to see) https://www.fac.....5493882569
Okay, that's done and it sounds, VERY, VERY hopeful!! YAY!!!
And as you know, as hard as the recovery phase is right now, she, and you, WILL get through this!
.aybe you could fiddle with squishy pillows and prop her up somehow where she's semi laying on the side she's used to, but not really putting pressure on that leg. Not sure if possible, but just thought I'd throw it out there!
Alrighty, all paws crossed for quick and easy and successful recovery!!! 🙂
Hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thanks Sally!
Yesterday she struggled laying down and mostly stood until I turned the lights out. I tried getting into bed around 8pm hoping, turned off the lights at 9pm. It took about 15 minutes and she was down. I heard her get up once or twice during the night, but she went right back down. Which, whew.
We got up in the 7am hour to eat, pee, etc. Gave her meds near 8am and crawled back into bed hoping she would too. Stayed down till noon. Now we're in the living room and she is laying down on the floor ON the wound. Eek.
So, yay! So far so good. There was so much drama with the last time. Fingers crossed for a smooth recovery!
Oh my dog I can't believe another tumor popped up again, I'm so sorry I just caught up on the news.
Glad to hear she's doing pretty well and Cocoa is recovering. I'm curious, what is your vet's recommended treatment protocol other than the surgery? I ask, because I'm wondering if she would be a candidate for the kind of preventive chemo infusion treatment that Travis Ray is going through for his soft tissue sarcoma. Find Option #3 in this post.
Sending lots of love and hugs to you both. I hope the next few days bring much improvement.
