Hi guys:
Tamalee and I saw the holistic vet the other day. He suggests treating with green tea, cellular forte IP6 and something called auto nosodes. You can google info about this. I had never heard of it, but you make a "remedy" of sorts from her own blood and urine to help to try to slow the growth of these tumors. You are basically using her own "tumor" to fight her tumor...so to speak. he has had success with it...and some other dogs do not respond. I am going to try...I have to. He did not recommend a fourth removal as they will just keep coming back...I am still up in the air on it. If these grow, and this treatment doesn't work...then I will lose her...The location is so close to her anus and vulva that surely as they grow, it will impair function for peeing and defecating...I did my research, and know others who have gone to him. He has been around for many years.
This is so hard...how much do I put her through...yet, she deserves every chance at life I feel, but it has to be a good quality of life too...
I...am officially a mess... 🙁
Leena, I hear you. I was a mess a few days ago. It is so hard to know what to do - you want to fight with everything you've got and yet at the same time you have to consider your pup's quality of life. With Abby, I'm trying some new things. We'll see how it goes. Obviously I don't want to do anything that will make her miserable, and it's so hard when you can't just ask them if they are on board w/ keeping up the fight. But I think they do "talk" to us in their own language. Hopefully you can try these things and they'll help and not have an adverse affect on her quality of life.
Hang in there! This cancer ride isn't for sissies. Keep enjoying your girl. Give her some extra loving from me and Abby.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Thank you Jackie. I am so sorry you and Abby are having a difficult time as well right now..
i will keep you in my prayers...
I think I must check the size of these lumps on Tamalee every day...I fret that if this treatment does not work and I don't remove...soon...then at the rate they are growing, it will become a problem for her quickly.
I fear that no matter what I do, I will have regrets and doubts...
Cancer sucks!
Sending good thoughts to Tamalee.
When you love them this much it's easy to let your mind wander and think about regrets. The worry can be almost unbearable at times!
I wish you peace during this difficult journey.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Just an update for you guys on Tamalee. She is still taking her holistic meds, plus a few "extras", vitamins, vit E, fish oil...when she will take it! Still has 3 tumor lumps....one may be a little bit bigger, but hard to tell...I check them so often it seems they grow every day! In reality, two are probably the same in size, and the one..well, MAYBE a little bigger...
She is eating fairly well...somedays better than others...takes her short walks, and occasionally picks up a stuffie or a ball and wants to play :)..she still chases and barks at the squirrels too 🙂
So, we keep on keeping on...and praying...
Hoping the best for you and your fur kids...
sounds like you guys are capturing the best from each and every moment. thinking back, i remember how our paranoia really frustrated gayle...checking her neck every couple of hours, trying to measure the size of tumors...did she cough more....what was that sound.....
fortunately, our tripawds are focused on enjoying the 'now', and forgive us our transgressions... paws crossed that you have many more wonderful memories to make.
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Hang in there, Tamalee! Keep chasing those pesky squirrels.
I hope you have lots and lots and lots more time together!

Hi!
News on Tamalee is that two of the tumors have SHRUNK! There is still a questionable "new" one trying to rear its ugly head! But, two have definitely gotten smaller! I don't know how long this will work, but I will take every beautiful day I get and am just thankful that it has bought her and I some time! I didn't know if it would work or not, but, I was certainly willing to try! We keep plugging away one day at a time, and cherish all of them!
That's great news Tamalee!

that is awesome news about them shrinking!!! Do you know what level/grade her cancer is? Our Spencer also has fibrosarcoma. He had his leg amputated and hasn't had any reoccurrence locally; but it has moved to his lungs. We are currently doing his second course of chemo; but I'm very interested about this treatment you are using!
Jac and Angel Spencer. Spencer was 5.25 years old. He fought a grade 3 fibrosarcoma, started on his shoulder. Left front leg amputated in August 2011. 15 weeks of chemo finished 12/22/11 (mytox and adria). Lung mets found on x-rays 12/28/11. Started carboplatin 1/6/12. Went to Heaven on 2/27/12. I miss him like crazy every day. See his blog here: http://spencer.tripawds.com/
Hello! Tamalee had(has) a grade one fibrosarcoma...I say has as it is still in her body (those darn far reaching cancer cells). The tumors have gotten smaller though! Do you have a good holistic vet in your area? TAmalee is using a combination of green tea 250 mg twice a day, cellular forte IP 6 (which is an immune booster) and also something called auto nosode.....google this! It is made using the dogs own blood, urine, or tumor tissue...The body fights cancer with the "cancer it recognizes"....the liquid you give your dog twice a day via a syringe...easy to do! I also give her vit e, a pill that has mushrooms in it along with a host of other cancer fighting holistic stuff, and tumeric.
I do not know how long this will work, but each day is a blessing!
I encourage you to look for a good holistic vet! I am all for regular vet care/meds/ etc., but I also think holistic has great potential!!!
Oh, I give Tamalee some vanilla Ensure daily also...to get all her vitamins in! She LOVES it!
I so hope your pup does okay...I will say a prayer!
