Hiya,
Thanks for the messages, it has been a very hard few days, especially when I look at Dylan and see how oblivious he is which I know of course is good, but also somehow makes me feel a bit of a traitor… just because I know what may/will happen, and I'm supposed to look after him. He's such a sweet boy he deserves so much more. We are going to take Dylan on an outing each weekend somewhere new and exciting for him.
I had sort of accepted there was nothing I could do other than possibly have the lump removed to make movement easier and await whatever happens. This is still undecided until we find out exactly what type of tumour it is, and how risky it will be.
However having had a look online and reading other stories I am feeling more positive and have decided there's other things I can try, so am looking into alternative therapies. He will be going onto a fully raw diet, and I'm trying to find out whatever supplements etc. I should give him (which is where it's getting confusing ). But I certainly can't sit and do nothing, he deserves better than that, and what've we got to lose?
On that note, does anyone know if this is really any good?
It is expensive and I don't mind, if it works, but I don't want to spend money on false hope if I could use it more wisely.
Any advice would be very much appreciated as to what I can do to support him from the inside.
Many thanks
Lots of us here have used the K9 Immunity . I used that with our girl (plus at-home chemo drugs plus other supplements, mainly artemisinin ) so it's hard to say which was the one thing that really helped or whether it was the combo of things.. but i do think those are worth the money. We had 15 months w/ our girl post Dx as well as a year with lung mets. One thing I personally really liked about the K9 Immunity is that it seemed like a tasty treat to Abby - it wasn't another pill that I had to try to sneak down her. She was happy to take them.
I think Dr. Dressler's e-book - I always forget the name... "Dog Cancer Survival Guide " I think - is a good resource because he weeds out the stuff that he thinks is worth looking into and leaves out anything that has no track record of helping. He covers the traditional medicine options, as well as holistic/alternative options.
Your plans for weekend outings sound great. Big hugs to your handsome boy,
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. K9 Immunity Plus (Amazon UK)
Please read our detailed review of K9 Immunity Plus.
We gave Jerry the original K9 Immunity after discovering his lung mets and believe it helped him live such a long happy life on three legs. The K9 Immunity Plus is extra strength and includes the three products in one tasty wafer, so you're not feeding so many pills.
PLEASE NOTE: If Aloha Medicinals will not ship to you overseas and you decide to purchase via Amazon, please be sure to use the links here to help support the Tripawds community!

we gave gayle k9 immunity after her amputation for a soft tissue sarcoma. we really, really believe it helped her continue a happy, vital life for almost 22 months. she lost her battle to a second cancer (oral melanoma), but we believe the k9 immunity was a big part of her quality of life. we also did acupuncture, and an initial five rounds of doxorubicin. hope this helps.
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
I have been using K9 immunity plus for my quad pug Tani who has mast cell cancer, we've been using it since last summer. While there is no way to know for sure if it is helping with the cancer, I know it is giving her more energy and spark. She is 11.5 now and people who meet her are surprised she is that old.

Thanks everyone for your help, I am really beginning to feel more positive that this isn't quite the end after all. I have bought the guide and am part way through it, and will be printing all the info off about k9-immunity and apopcaps to take to the vet tomorrow evening, I am hoping one or the other i might be able to claim on Dylan's insurance as I don't think I can afford both at the doses he requires, as well as my others dogs' meds. But he will definitely have one if not both - can anyone suggest which may be better for him if I can only provide one?
I was a little concerned about Dylan last night as he seemed a little off, but I think that was paranoia as we took him for a walk and he perked right up and is full of beans today He has a new bed to make sure he is comfy, and a new squeaky pheasant - his absolute favourite toy, although for supervised playing only as they only last a couple of minutes otherwise...
Tomorrow I will hopefully get the results as to exactly what sort of tumour Dylan has, and so will be able to discuss removal of it with my vet.
You sound so much better, I'm glad to see it.
As for Apocaps versus K9 Immunity , I know that Dressler recommends using both. And since I only have experience taking K9 Immunity , I can only say that my pawrents and I feel that it did buy me more quality time. Both supplements have lots of anecdotal evidence behind them from others who had pawsitive experiences, and both have some good clinical studies behind them. But if I had to choose, I would go with K9 Immunity because there is a more research behind the medicinal use of mushrooms for cancer patients, in both humans and dogs.
Did you see that Dr. Dressler is having a call-in webinar today? I'll try to ask this question for you if I don't see anyone else ask it.
Here's some more reading for you in case you didn't see it:

Thank you very much for your help. Yes I am feeling a bit better, of course I still have very frequent moments where it all dawns on me all over again, but I can't waste what time I have with him feeling sorry for us both, right now he's otherwise strong, happy and healthy, all I can do is try and keep him that way as long as possible.
I will certainly be kept busy reading but the more I know the better, of course! I had not seen about the webinar, I will have to figure out timings as I think I have set the time wrong on my profile, but if you could ask that for me that would be very much appreciated thank you.
I really appreciate having somewhere to come and talk about Dylan, hopefully one day I will be able to repay the favour and help someone else.
