YEA!!!!!! Great news and photos. How much better does it get.

You have more courage than me. Since no one has yet to tell me what I would do differently depending upon the results of the xrays, I do not have them. I am enjoying every moment to the fullest, but if there were a real problem, then I would move mountains for Cherry.

Good news, Jack.  He sure is a cutie.

Good news for Tazzie!  Her chest xrays are still clear and her heart is still doing well so I guess all of her panting this last month has been due to summer weather.  Now that it has cooled down here at night (we live near Seattle) she seems to be breathing more normally.  She has also been quite playful this week; chasing her "brother" (our French Mastiff Loki) and splashing in the hose.

Our other cancer survivor Kona (our Pitbull with intestinal cancer) will be 11 years old on Sept 1st so I think we will have a party for both dogs on Labor Day weekend.  I will try to upload pictures and maybe a video clip if I can find a technically savvy friend!

Thanks for asking about her.....

Wonderful News! 🙂 Time for a pawty indeed. Thanks for the update.

PS: If you can get the clip uploaded to YouTube we will gladly embed it here.

YAY for Tazzie!!  Where near Seattle are you?  I grew up on Bothell, went to school in Bellevue, and now my parents live in downtown Kirkland.  I miss it so much there!  Tazzie and you are very lucky to live in such a wonderful area 🙂

We live in Puyallup. It is almost time for the big Fair in September.  One of the reasons we moved here from Wisconsin was for the temperate weather but this year we have had a lot of really hot days.  I am looking forward to fall!

Yay - very glad about Tazzie 1!! Enjoy your party. You contribute so much to all of our dogs, we hope Tazzie #1 does very very well (of course we want all of the tripawds to do great!).

Tazzie 2 might also have x-rays today - it is only 5-6 weeks since the original ones, but given we will do a major move this week and I fret about his heavy breathing at night and the original pathology report was pretty bad, we might do them early.

Good luck to you Tazzie 2.  I am praying for you.  It is so hot I think we are all breathing heavily.

Tazzie 2 gets to join the Clear Chest X-Ray Club! Yay. He sorted of cheated because we have only gone 5&1/2 wk since the first xray, but it is great to know he is clear at this point.

I have started to make a general plan of attack for what to do if and when other events transpire (e.g. lung mets), which is why I wanted to know, and my oncologist did fill me in on what to expect and what would typically be done in different scenarios. She did recommend metronomics following chemo, when I asked her about it. And you can bet that we will track down Tika's team if needed

AWESOME NEWS TAZZIE 2!!!  I also have been in talks with our oncologist about our plan once mets appear, and for some reason she does not recomment metronomics (potential toxicity of kidneys I think?).  She instead said that she would start Jack on Carboplatin.  I personally feel that some sort of inhaled therapy may be better, but I am not a vet...it just makes sense that inhaling medication directly to the lungs would be beneficial.  Since there was a tiny tiny spot on his lungs that our regular vet wasn't clear on (visible in 1 view out of 3), I have started Jack on shark cartilage for its possible antiangiogenic properties, and have him on IP6 and Inositol (In addition to reducing cell proliferation, IP6 increases differentiation of malignant cells, often resulting in a reversion to normal phenotype. Exogenously administered IP6 is rapidly taken into the cells and dephosphorylated to lower-phosphate inositol phosphates, which further interfere with signal transduction pathways and cell cycle arrest. Enhanced immunity and antioxidant properties can also contribute to tumor cell destruction).  We'll see how it goes but I am so happy for your update!

ha, I had to laugh when reading your post (above). Did you ever think you'd be saying such things a few months ago!?! I can't say I understand any of that.

I was surprised that this oncologist said metronomics is legitimate. In fact, I believe she said its effects are well-documented for humans (can't find my notes). I will probably start a post about metronomics sometime soon, although I need to look back at the available info (e.g., from Jerry). I guess we are done with the chest x-ray club, so maybe I'll just post a few questions under that topic now. My work schedule will get crazy busy next week, and then worse in two weeks when students arrive, so I need to have a plan in place - I won't be able to ignore work the way I have for the last 6 weeks. That is why I needed to know how Tazzie was doing now.

Yeay for Tazzie2! That's a great way to start our day.

Susan, you're right, we sure get quite the education when we get tossed into this whole canine cancer thing. It's an education we never wanted to get, that's for sure.

Good luck with school next week, we'll always be here to help if you need anything. Oh, and in your spare time (haha), remember there's lots of good info here and in the Bone Cancer Dogs website about Metronomic Therapy.
