So Jackers is scheduled for his chest x-rays tomorrow morning. I'm a little nervous, but either mets are they're or they're not...I can't change it. He's not coughing and only pants after walks (it's hot here), so if he has mets, they're not affecting his quality of life yet, and can hopefully be slowed by switching treatments and adding different supplements. In addition to shark cartilage I would like to also try artemisinin ...has anyone that uses that had any luck? I'll let y'all know how it goes tomorrow, but I am a wreck already (not upset, I just hate the waiting)!!!
I can understand why you are nervous about the chest x-ray for Jackers. Emily has her first chest x-ray on Monday and I have been nervous for a week. Like Jackers, she has no sign of lung mets but it is so scary. Good luck tomorrow and be sure to let us know.
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
Crossed fingers and paws for your visit tomorrow. The anticipation is the worst.

A funny little story about Yoda's last chest x-rays might distract you from worrying, if briefly:
I was sitting in the waiting room at the Vet School, shortly before I expected them to be through with Yoda. The waiting room was well populated, but quieter than usual, making it a little too easy to get lost in my own thoughts. I was wringing my hands, trying to remind myself how well Yoda was doing in every observable way, so there was no reason to fear that anything would be wrong. Finally one of the more energetic techs, who I'd seen meet with other people before, but whom I never had, came and found me to go over the report. She then proceeded to read the doctor's notes in a very loud voice so that I'm sure the entire waiting room heard. This included a summary of Yoda's diagnosis, amputation, etc. up until the present visit - so the entire waiting room was caught up on Yoda's story, essentially. And then she got to the part about how Yoda's x-rays were completely clear and everything else was great too, yadda yadda yadda, and I could breathe again. As she was on her way to go get Yoda, the waiting room was no longer quiet and people began to politely ask me about Yoda, what breed he was, etc. The tech chimed in, "you just gotta see him - he's one in a million!" They were all visibly impressed when Yoda was brought out too, but how could they not be by any of our brave tripawds?
So, waiting can be agonizing, but waiting rooms can be surprisingly cool. Oh, to add to that, when I brought Yoda in the first time to the Vet School to see what could be done about the osteosarcoma, I ended up sitting near a couple whose dog was currently undergoing treatment for osteosarcoma there and had an amputation and so they were able to give me their input as experienced pawrents of a tripawd with cancer. That was HUGE for my piece of mind as we waited. It's just too bad I haven't seen them since.
But I digress! Good luck tomorrow morning!!

Thanks for your kind words, guys! I'm less nervous today than I was yesterday, but of course, when we got up this morning, Jack started grooming himself and then let out this big hacking cough (I'm pretty sure he got some hair in his throat). Thanks buddy, you really calmed momma down 😛 Anyways, he should be done in a couple hours, so I'll let y'all know how it went. And I LOVE Yoda's new picture! I think he looks like a chocolate Jack 🙂
Good luck with the xrays! Tazzie is having hers tomorrow. She has been on artemisinin since she finished chemo and her 1-year anniversary will be Aug 26th. I don't know if the artemisinin has helped but it definitely doesn't hurt.

Good-ish news! The x-rays show his chest to be completely clear sans for a miniscule thing (visible in only 1 view) that our regular vet didn't think was anything either, but would like our oncologist to just double check. So, if it IS a met, that means it's grown to the size of barely observable over the span of 3 months (10 actually if you count when he started limping). I hope if it keeps growing, that it decides to keep growing at that rate! Thanks for your support...it really helped 🙂
Good-ish news is awesome, and a reason to celebrate! Yipee!
