Thank you Tina!
Max is actually still in the hospital...his red blood cell count is low, but they expect it to come up, and he may have a urinary tract infection. He is doing great! He was up and walking the morning after surgery and figured out how to do it very quickly. The doctors were very happy and impressed with this. I personally expected nothing less from him because he is "the bomb"=) He is officially a tripawd and a pretty handsome one!
We visited him twice yesterday. First time in the a.m. it was just my husband and I. He was definetly happy to see us and tried to get up right away so we sat with him for alittle while and then we took him outside where he showed us how well he was getting around. He is doing such a great job and I made sure I told him that every 5 seconds! Later in the day we took our kids to visit him. He handled that very well too. Our daughter got right in his kennel with him and stayed there the entire visit. Our son on the other hand got pretty emotional with it so he needed to take a break with his Dad but came back and jumped right in that kennel with his sister and held it together the rest of our visit.
I will write back soon to tell what today brings for us!!
Shaun
Shaun,
Glad to hear that Max is on the road to recovery. The Today show featured a story this past week with Jill Rappaport who has written a childrens book about her Tripawd. It is called tag=agredacommunicat&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0061731366">Jack & Jill</a><img src="http://www.asso....." width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Jack and Jill and I thought it might be helpful with your kids.
Take care of Max and each other, we are sending you healing thoughts,
Gineej & Paris
Grateful for every moment we had with Paris…..no regrets!

Hey Shaun, that is wonderful. As you experienced, it's harder for some people to adjust to the shock of seeing our beloved fur kids this way, but in the end, it's such a huge lesson for everyone. Your kids will learn so much from this. Our dogs are amazing!
Just a suggestion, but it would be a good idea to start a new thread of your very own elsewhere in the Forums to make it easier for people to find Max's story.
So happy to hear this news. Hope Max get's out of there soon and is back on the road to recovery!
