Hi Ellen,

Welcome to you and Adam!  What a great name for a dog!!  I'm glad to hear the surgery went well - wait til you get to see your boy!  It's the best feeling in the world.  I truly feel like it was yesterday for us and it will be two years this December!!

Keep us posted on his progress!!

xoxo,

Ellen- Glad to hear that Adam is done with surgery. I need to confess what I wrote earlier was to make you feel better lol. When Jake's cancer came back the only option was amputation. Knowing that all else was clear we went to the consult appointment on a Friday. Decided to go ahead with the surgery right then and there. It was a great situation because we didn't need to bring him home and agonize over the decision. What a relief.

Keep us posted on Adam. You need to get some rest tonight to prepare for a tiring couple weeks.

Yay! Great news, I'm so glad to hear that it's over and he's doing well.

Just FYI, whenever we have Collies join us I like to point out this info about the MDR1 gene and Collies, not sure if you knew about this or not.

Thanks for the reminder about the MDR1.  I should have had it done.  We are pretty sure he's either clear or a carrier based on tests done on his relatives.

I'm so relived that the surgery part is over.  My friend is giving us a piece of fitpaws equipment for his rehab.  We have the small bathroom set up for him.  Not too much room and a water bowl he can't tip over.  Best of all I have not heard from the clinic where he is.  No news is good news but I'll be calling to check up on him.  He did get spooked this afternoon and they had to re-sedate him.

YAYYYYY! Surgery is done and Adam is feeling no pain for now...seeing a lot of pink elephants and polka dot zebras, but no pain!!

Try and get some rest while you can. Recovery is no picnic and can sometimes cause some sleepless nights!

We're here right by your side so don't hesitate to let us know how we can help!

And when you go pick Adam up, just look straight into his druggy eyes and praise him wildly and tell him what a god boy he is! Dont even ok at his amp. Site...he won't!

Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

We are getting a balance pad.  I can borrow other pieces of equipment too.  My friend offers what she calls Flex classes and we may enroll him in one of them.

Very cool, the Balance Pad is great for beginners and new Tripawds. Where does your friend teach? We love making connections with doggie rehab practitioners.

Root Dog Training in Highwood, IL (Far Northern Chicago Suburbs) is her place.  She's familiar working with tripaws including one who never quite recovered from her front leg amputation :(  Sadly Lola was returned to rescue and we believe eventually euthanized.
