Hi everyone. I just thought I'd share something with the community. I found something on my male boxer's leg. About a week and a half ago I decided that I was going to start checking all my dogs out on occasion so I would know if things were changing. Well, on Dakota's left, front leg I found knots. I thought maybe I was crazy because I've read all your stories and been through Roxy's cancer, that every little thing worries me now. So I decided to just watch it for a little bit. But I think it's changing, so I'm going to call my vet as soon as she opens this morning. I'm just sick. After Ted and Mary got the second blow with Buddy's diagnosis I thought how does one family get hit with this twice in such a short period of time, and more importantly how do they stay sane. Well, I might be finding out exactly how. Hopefully I'm overreacting, hopefully I'm imagining the change in his leg. But if not, the only comfort I have is knowing basically what to expect. If it is worst case scenario at least I won't be scared of the amputation this time around. The only difference in the two is Dakota is literally twice Roxy's weight at 84 lbs, so I think some things will be more difficult.
Anyway, just wanted to share. I'll keep you updated as I get information.

Thanks everyone. I called the vet. I'm taking him in Monday morning. I just called and said I found a lump on my dogs leg and needed it checked out, she asked my name and I said "It's Roxy's Mom". That's all I need to say anymore. She just said "Oh no." I'll let you know how it goes Monday morning.
Karen, I saw your signature "Karen and the pugapalooza" somewhere. I like it!
I hope it turns out to be nothing!!
I know I've been doing daily cancer checks on Loki ever since Denali was diagnosed! Even though they don't know what caused it, Loki seems to be better bred and he was neutered later in life by the rescue that found him - so I'm hoping those 2 things are in his favor.

Oh Leslie!
I'm so sorry! I can imagine how you feel because I would feel the same! (Okay, I might more freaky - you probably wouldn't even be able to decipher my post! )
I'm hoping it is just arthritis nodules. But I'm with Ruthie's mom - paranoia sets in big time!
Please tell us first thing on Monday, okay? In the meantime, pawsitive thoughts!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Lots and lots of good thoughts coming from Texas. Having been there does make you tend to over react, so l'm hoping it is absolutely nothing.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
Pawsitive thoughts coming from across the border. It's soooooo hard not to be suspicious of every little thing when you've been through the cancer mill. Hopefully its nothing serious. Keeping our paws crossed for good news on Monday.
Laura and Tai
Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
Leslie,
I soooo understand your being paranoid about every single little thing now... Every day, I check Wolfie all over his body, looking for signs of any lumps or bumps or pain...
Hoping that it's nothing serious with Dakota... Keeping my fingers crossed!!
Angel Jake and Wolfie's mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
Leslie,
I really really hope that this is nothing. I think we can all totally relate to your worries about this. That's what this awful disease does to us emotionally. My other golden Kobe just turned 2 and I worry now that he's going to get cancer too. I'm also feeling for lumps and then I think, but wait a minute he can't get cancer yet- he's only 2.
We'll be keeping our paws crossed for you and Dakota that it's a big fat nothing but an overreaction.
Kami (Mackenzie & Kobe's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
