Surgery has been scheduled for tomorrow morning. It's 12 hours away and we are all a little nervous... We had to switch back to the old vet for the procedure, because the current oncologist can't perform the surgery soon enough (he recommended that we switch), but both sides are fully up to date and in agreement about the procedure. We can also bring Tom home after 3 days, so I'm a lot more at ease. He is outside getting some air. We want to spend time with him but he's becoming increasingly irritable. He's also been struggling to walk, but insists on being outside in the evenings. His pain medication schedule is airtight, but I have a feeling it's hurting him a lot. A few hours and hopefully it'll be gone 🙂
Thank you all for your pawsitive energy - keep it pouring in! We are going to need a fair bit to get through the next few days.
Love to you all
Dear Paka Tom!
You are going to rock surgery tomorrow, we know it! You're probably sensing a lot of nervous energy right now and that's okay...get some lovely fresh air today buddy and enjoy all the loving that you are being smothered with!
Mama, we're keeping you in our thoughts and will be with you in our hearts all weekend! Sending you tons of pawsitive energy and lots of hugs! Give Brave Tom a big cuddle for me and tell him this bad pain will be gone soon and he will be on the top road to recovery!
Stay in touch over the weekend and let us know how dear Paka Tom is doing.
Sloppy kisses from Stewie👅🐾

Tom is getting his surgery ASAP so that is what matters! 12 hours away UGHI am glad they agreed and made the switch , get this painful lump off ASAP!
We are pouring in tons of pawsitive thoughts and energy for surgery tomorrow!! 3 Days is more like it yaaay for the 3 days vs 10!! I believe Tom will do better at home!
Will Tom be under 24 hour care at this clinic? I ask because you want someone watching him 24-7 the first day or 2 if they cant provide that as scary as it is its better your bring Tom home and become the 24-7 care!
Tom you got this Buddy! You have a fan club across the sea cheering for you & Mom!!

Alrighty, Tom is getting things taking care of and he will feel sooooo much better!! Well, that's not to say that recovery is a picnic, vut after recovery, he will be so happy!!
I'm really glad he doesn't have to stay at the Vet ore than three days. He''ll be happy at home...even if he is drugged!
Let us know when surgery is over so we can celebrate with you!
Hugs to all!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Tripawd Power works! Surgery was today, and it went very well according to the vet and he didn't lose much blood at all!
Now for recovery.. They don't have 24 hour care but they assured us that someone drops by every hour to check in.. my heart is with Tom right now. They also said that bringing him home within 3 days is the best case scenario, they'd prefer to keep him there for a week and monitor him in case he looks like he isn't healing or the wound begins to display signs of infection. I want nothing more than for him to be home.. need some more of all your magical pawsitivity to get him home haraka (quickly)!
We are just back from a visit, it's tough seeing him without the leg for the first time, but this morning we could all tell he was in miserable pain, and I'm so glad the bad leg is out! And he managed to do a full turn and walk without falling at all! We are going to see him again tomorrow morning, and take him some treats and a fresh blankie in case this one smells like vet.
Hugs to you all and thank you for your incredible support!
YAAAAAAAAAY!!! SURGERY IS DONE AND THE BUM LEG IS GONE!! 🙂
Sending lots of magical pawsitivity HARAKA!! 🙂
Get some rest! Tom ks in good hands and high as a kite! 🙂
Hugs

Pawesome! You're both over the toughest part and although you may have ups and downs, it sure sounds like Paka Tom is going to make a full recovery. YAY! I love that your vet is exceptionally careful about his recovery. Please let them know we think their care is excellent!
Oh, when you return with a fresh blankie tomorrow, you may want to take one that smells like home. I'm not sure about cats but I know that dogs are often comforted by clothing and things that smell like their humans. Maybe Paka Tom would rather a blankie that smells like home than just laundry soap? Just thinking out loud.
Again, congrats on this big step. He is doinig GREAT!

Purrkins didn't move in the hospital! He just peed where he was. Just telling you that so you see how well Tom is doing already!!
Really? Aw but he's doing amazing now, he seems like he must have just sprung out of surgery! That's a really promising sign then Tom walks a couple of steps and then sits back down.. he's also peeing where he is, but he's testing himself and moving really carefully when he wants.
Oh, when you return with a fresh blankie tomorrow, you may want to take one that smells like home.
Thank you for that advice! I'm pretty sure that cats work with smells as well! He went with his original blankie, so I took one of my Mum's t-shirts (he's very attached to her) and wrapped that blankie in it like a makeshift cushion, and he moved so he could sleep with his head on it. I'll show up with a recently worn t-shirt every other day and change it so her smell is fresh.
The vet has decided to keep him under observation for at least 7 days I go to visit him daily in the morning and evening, and it really doesn't feel like he's healing well there... He refused to make eye contact with me today, he generally does that when he's moody and upset. I did take him some fish and he gobbled it up. But with all the unfamiliar smells and the noises from other pets, I really don't think he's happy. I've bent over backwards begging the vet to let me bring him home sooner, but I think they're more irritated with me than anything at this stage. I'm just telling myself it's a few more days and then he'll be home and comfy and out of pain!
My current project is setting up his recovery room, and I'm just so excited to have him back soon! Leo is also missing his furry companion - he sits in Tom's spots and is always confused at his absence during mealtimes.
Thank you all for the super-healing Tripawd Power It's really working! Love and hugs to you all!
Paka Tom, how lovely that Mama brought you 🐟 and you gobbled it right up! Try not to be too mad at Mama, she is doing her very best to get you home when you are well enough to do so...! It's great that the vets are being so cautious. It's too bad they are being a bit grumpy with you for wanting your mtanashati boy home! I imagine it is a bit tough for him.
How wonderful that he loves his Grandmama so much! Does she get to visit Paka Tom as well? And Leo darling, you keep Toms spots warm for him! He'll be home soon enough! Sweet boys!
Good sweet strong Tom. Keep getting stronger everyday lovey. We are sending tons of loving and healing Tripawd power!
love and hugs to you all!

Yes Really Purrkins wouldn’t move in the hospital setting he wouldn’t eat for me either!
He didn’t try moving until he got home!
Purrkins has surpassed anything I could of imagined or hoped for him he isn’t disabled !Differently ABLED! You will see Tom will show you !!
I am glad they are being extra cautious with Tom but they shouldn’t be grumpy to you!
You are paying them and Tom is yours!! Technically you can take him when you want to! Just saying😉
You want Tom to be cared for that is whats most important. If he needs to be under care then he needs to be. It’s about the best interest for Tom! All I can tell you is our experience, Purrkins was there 3 nights 4 days & they sent him home because they felt he would do better at home!! Purrkins would not eat etc.
I know Purrkins was not himself when I went to visit he was really drugged up and scared !
I wasn’t sure he even knew it was me? It sounds like Tom is doing really good in the hospital setting considering!!
Tom making any attempt in moving is HUGE cautiously even better smart Tom! Tom is eating Huge it also tells me he is more comfortable then we think! Which is great.
Yep Cats love human smells just like doggies do;) Taking Mum’s smell in will comfort Tom!
We will still send pawsitive thoughts to get Paka Tom home haraka , maybe we can change their mind;) Of course we are still sending super-healing Tripawd Power!!
Were thrilled to hear he is doing so WELL Keep it up Tom!!!
We will all try to have patience;)
Hugs & Chin scratches to Leo Hang tight buddy we are working on getting Tom home soon!
Holly & Purrkins ❤️
Hi everyone, Paka Tom here After being a very fussy kitty and refusing to eat or drink water for a full day, the vets decided to let me come home! Or maybe it was because they got tired of Mama visiting so often I'm so happy to be back - I have my own room with squishy mats on the floor in case I fall, but I haven't stumbled at all yet. I drank loads of water, a little milk, ate a bite of wet food, and made Mama clean out the bottom corner of the closet and put blankies in for me. I think I purred for at least 10 minutes straight before I fell asleep there.
Mum won't let me out of the room, but I don't mind. She's here in case I need anything. I like my little cozy space, I've been resting all day and it's nice to be surrounded by familiar smells.
Purrkins has surpassed anything I could of imagined or hoped for him he isn’t disabled !Differently ABLED! You will see Tom will show you !!
I'm already starting to show Mum that I can move so comfortably without that dreadful leg. It's making me even more creative with how I sit down and arrange myself!
Thank you all for your Tripawd Power! I felt it and it kept me and Mum strong throughout the past weeks and I know it got me home early too Mama is busy doing joyous backflips around the house, but she'll let you know in case there's anything new with me. Purrs and face-rubs to all of you!
Jambo Paka Tom, You're Home!!!
Asante Sana for your incredibly uplifting post this morning! You should write more often little fella! Pakas Spike, Chester & Miss Lily say you are their Mashujaa! Mbwa Stewie is very impressed!
How lovely that Mama kicked up enough fuss for you to come home! Good for you Mama! It sounds like she has made you a right comfy spot to call your own! I bet Leo is even a little jealous! He must be thrilled that your home too, life can start going back to normal for you all! The new norm that is!
We would love to see some pictures of your mtanashati face?!
Sending tons more upendo through the Tripawd nation! Hugs cuddles and kisses. Keep doing the Hoppy dance Mama, you deserve all this happiness you are feeling!
Kwaheri for now...
