Hello all you Furbaby Mommas and Pappas!
Well, I am surprisingly okay today...and that is becasue Zoe is great today! Although, the trip to the vet last night did not bring us the news we wanted, I am just glad our girl had a good day today!
The onc thought it'd be best that we xray the ankle (hock) AND the chest just to make sure our plan of action was still the rigth one. Well, we got good news and bad news....good news was that the swollen ankle was not cancer, but bad news is there is 'severe' arthritis. Ugh--pre-amp we had at least 3 vets look at her hip and back xrays to determine if she would be able to handle it...no one, including us, ever mentioned checling the other hock! I know she twisted it last week...i saw it happen and cringed! I hope lots of rest, as you've all recommended, along with more pain meds will help her.
Wait...there's more... More bad/sad news...there are two "small" mets in the lungs (one definite, the other not as clear, but probable). They were not visible on the last xray only 4 or 5 weeks ago. We were crushed, but we know our girl is a fighter and a survivor! The doc suggested we still go forward with the chemo and see what happens after two rounds of carboplatin, then we'll look again and regroup based on what we see then. So we did....
I stayed with Zoe today and worked from home and she's in good spirits and feeling good today! I hope the next two days are the same! I am going to pray and pray and keep my thoughts posotive and hope we are able to keep her quality of life good!
Angel Honeygurl --THANK YOU for the Ruff Wear harness ...Zoe's been wearing it proudly and we shared the sweet story of your Mom's generosity at the Cancer hospital and everyone thought it was so awesome of you to pass it along to us! Thank you, Susan!
Sorry my posts are so long..... but THANKS to all of you for sharing with us -- it helps so much and your support is wonderful!
Zoe says, "C'mon Mom...get off that computer and take me out to widdle!!" Got to run for now....
we will be keeping Zoe in our prayers! Hope she gets feeling better soon!

the monkeydogs only THINK they have invaded the tripawd state
We're sure Zoe is a fighter and survivor too! Be sure to review the treatment options for lung metastasis in dogs that Jerry posted in the Downloads blog a while back.

BTW, thanks for the beautiful card....very sweet.
Dx Osteosarcoma 3/31/10. Amputation 7/21/10. Honey put up a valiant fight and lost her battle 9/22/10. Missing her and treasuring 9 years with our Honeygurl.
My baby McKenzie is also a Back leg amputee. She had her surgery in February and did great, she is 11 years old also. She did great for about 2 weeks then we noticed the smae things she would just sit down or her back leg would just give out. We decreased her activity and kept her crated more often, in a week it was no better we took her to and orthepedic specialist and she has a partial ACL tear. We are trying to determine what to do at this point. I would go to your vet right away.
Good luck!
Cindy
