If I hurry I'll get this in just under the wire (at least in my time zone) on Yoda's 3 year adoption anniversary and 3 month ampuversary!

This evening, for the first time in my presence, Yoda demonstrated his remastery of tail-chasing.  Aside from catching a rabbit (which doesn't count, because I actively thwart his efforts as best I can), chasing his tail is the only activity that Yoda had not re-learned on three legs.  Yay!!!  I even pulled out the camcorder after he did it the first time, and eventually got a second round on tape (Ancient camcorder - sorry I can't share it.  Some day, hopefully, I'll get stuff converted).  Poor Yoda though.  I'm sure he was really annoyed with my delight, because he chases his tail for one of two reasons: his hot spot on his rear is itching and/or he's frustrated with me for being late with his walk.  Late with his walk on his adoption/ampuversary day!  Shame on me!!

Anyway, I'll make it up to him tomorrow and Monday.  I had to work today, so Yoda Day Observed will last the next two days!

Yoda

Glad to hear you hit your ampuversary in great form! You can be sure I'll celebrate YDO week.

Has anyone noticed how handy those tails are when swimming with three legs? The tail makes a great rudder to correct for the strong side. I actively use my tail, moving it in circles like a sideways version of the front crawl, to steer to the left and keep myself moving straight - a very splashy affair. I guess that means I still have four legs when swimming.

Tazzie is dying of curiosity - what kind of tail does Yoda have? I can't see it in the picture.

Hmmm, well it's an average-length tail.  No flourish of longer hair or anything, but it has character.  Currently it has highlights (from the sun I guess, and one summer they were more over his shoulder blades, then moved to forehead, but for the past year or so they've settled on his tail alone).  Also his tail has a “knot” in it.  Apparently from an injury prior to his adoption.  The Humane Society didn't have any record of how it happened, but his rib cage sticks out a bit on one side, also from before I got him, so possbily he sustained both injuries at the same time.  In any case, I like to joke that the knot is actually where his second brain is located and when his tail and his head disagree about something, the head-brain chases the tail-brain.
