Gosh, so many possibilities, and not all too bad!
Okay...take a couple of deep breaths.....really inhale deeply and exhale slowly....B R E A T H E........B R E A T H E.....
.Marshall's probably must tweeked something.
The first thing that comes to mind as far as going up and down stairs, etc. is he may have pulled a muscle, strained his back or neck while rmping in the snow. I would think that could be the main cause. Also, I'm sure he tires more easily now, which is not pain.
Panting does go along with the lung mets and is not uncommon. Is it consistent or comes and goes? I don't recall my Happy Hannah having any pain per se. She would pant and she would sometimes be restless at night and not able to sleep well. These "symptons" would subside and then kinda come backnoff and on. Her energy level was low and she tired very easily. She didn't mind being a couch potato though!
Is he showing any other signs often associated with pain ? Ears pinned back? Whining? How is his gum color? Any really labored breathing, wheezing? Of course, it goes without saying, have the vet check him over if he starts showing any real distress or discomfort.
I apologize but I can't remember what .eds he's on right now. You may try giving him a dose or two of Tramadol. Did the vet suggest Prednisone as a med to treat any symptoms thst may arise from the mets? It has anti inflammatory properties and can help ease the breathing sometimes.
Continue to spoil, spol, spoil! And I know you are! Maybe you and Marshall can both swueeze in a little nap together today.
Se ding lots of love and hugs. We're here every step of the way.

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Hmmm . . . panting could be anything! Harmony would pant when she was anxious, when she was hot, when she was in pain. Sometimes I think she panted just as a past-time. It could be anything.
However, to Sally's point, if she's restless as well, that's a good sign he's uncomfortable, whether it be pain or his leg has gone to sleep. We had a few nights of those with Harmony as well. Once we gave her a wee bit of meds, she settled down. In a crunch I've given her doggie-aspirin and it would get her through the night until I could get her to the vet.

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

We are all here for you ... Shelby never really "panted" (and she had tiny mets) except when she was on her Tramodol so I don't know. I think perhaps he over-exerted himself or something or a tight muscle? I know Shelby's muscles on her remaining rear leg did get super tight and I would have to massage them out for her. Hoping that is the case with you all.
HUGS!!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Thank you everyone!!!! Sorry I was offline the baby has been FUSSY today. The Vet checked his whole body over multiple times and couldn't find any areas of pain. She thinks that he is prob just weak. She gave us prednisone to try and eye medicine to see if it can clear them up some. They still aren't sure if the eyes are Cancer or infection. One of the vets says Cancer the other isn't sure. His eyes are nasty I clean them all day long. I'm happy that she doesn't think its in any bones. My fear since he got this disease was that it would come back in a bone. I want him to have pain free time only.
Oh good, Im glad the vet was able to determjne no pain was involved and the bones seem okay!
That's a pretty good report overall! Marshall is still living up to his nickname...MARSHALL THE MIRACLE DOG!!
Glad he's on some Prednisone. It can be useful at certain points on the journey and can be very beneficial.
You've got your hands full kiddo.....take some time for you, okay?
Sending all sorts of positive energy for Marshall to continue enjoying all the magnificent spoiling and loving! He really is a very special pup and we all love him so much!
