Fancy is missing her right hind foot from the hock/ankle joint. When I joined the forum we didn't think we would be able to heal the wound. Now it's only a sore about the size of a dime & is healing well. She doesn't try to use it to walk/run but she does scratch herself & push off the wall/floor/bed with it when she's playing.
Do any of you have partial limbs? What kinds of protection, if any, have you tried? We are currently using infant socks & mittens. My vets says she may develope a callous/pad of sorts eventually.
Thank you all for sharing so much!
Others will respo d with more knowlege than I.
Just want to say t Fancy she is o e lucky girl to jave you as her advocate!

Hi Fancy & Family,
We've had a few members here with partial amps, i"m hoping they'll chime in. Is the area healed completely?
Fitting a boot or cover on the remaining limb is tough but I've seen it done. You can try something like TheraPaws or have a custom one made for you by someone like Tammy and Teddy's. Also, if you opt to keep the limb and it doesn't give her problems later, it sounds like Fancy is a great candidate for a prosthesis. Have you looked at OrthoPets for a consultation? Prosthetics are quite a commitment as far as training her to use one. Many Tripawds aren't good candidates and they're not cheap but if Fancy is a good candidate they can resolve this situation if you make that leap.

Thank you. She is really a breath of fresh air. (: Growing like a weed and teething. Aside from the cone on her head; she's a happy, healthy puppy. The more I look at Orthopets, the more I think she's an excellent candidate. I haven't checked with them yet, but I love the idea, particularly because she can almost reach the ground now and, at her age (13 weeks), she's likely to adapt easily.
I'll update when we know more.

Stay tuned, we'll have an OrthoPets interview and video hopefully later this week. Give Fancy a big smooch from us!
