Hi all,
We are traveling with our tripawd Sadie, who is missing a back leg and her 4-legged brother Cooper to the Adirondacks and found a few easy trails to hike with them. The trails range from 3-5 miles (we arent doing all of them, but just looking around), which is just long enough to tire Sadie out, but slightly too long where she might strain too much. Sadie loves being outdoors with us, despite everything and will push through the pain just to be on adventures with us. Even though she can push through way longer than necessary, we want to make sure she can still have fun with us without pushing her self. We have seen a few strollers/wagons or pet carriers, but Sadie is just slightly too big for them or they are not practical. Sadie weighs about 45lbs and is about medium-large height (around 25in maybe, we have never measured her height).
Does anyone have any suggestions for a folding carrier for a medium dog; we have looked at the k9 backpack that is rated for bigger dogs, but neither myself or my boyfriend are physically able to hike with a 45 lb dog on our back (yet). Preferably, we would want a stroller/wagon that can be carried on our backs until we need to use it that can be used in all-terrain
Oh what a fun time, sounds like a great vacation spot. It's so wise of you to think ahead about Sadie's stamina and preventing injury. YAY YOU!
I haven't seen a dog stroller you can actually carry. I have a feeling that it would be heavier than the K9 Backpack. Did you happen to see any of our stroller articles in Tripawds Gear? Many will fit a large dog like a Rottie or Shepherd so Sadie should have lots of room in them. I tested the Booyah on Wyatt Ray and it was pretty portable: collapsed totally flat and fit into the back of a compact car.
