It was actually her last day on Gaba and Rimydal anyway so I continued the Rimydal and stopped the Gaba.

Thanks for the info about anemia, she still has very pale gums so I think she is still anemic because she lost so much blood during surgery but I am feeding her a diet that has a good amount of iron to boost it back up. So maybe that was it, it wasn't a lose consciousness and bowel function type seizure. Muscle spasms and drooling.

She's been doing well since, except for chewing her stitches over nightsmiley6, it must be getting itchy. Full time tshirt here we come. I'll mention the anemia to the vet when I talk to her today. Thanks, and be well.

Bella update,

We went and got her stitches out today and most of her incision was healed nicely. The part she chewed on not so much! It had scabbed over and the tissue where the sutures were had died so part of it opened up when they were taking them out. They left the other scab and said that it would just have to heal more slowly. They sent her home with what I consider and open wound but the vet said it should heal fine and switched her to a new higher powered antibiotic.

Other than that and the fact that she HATES her cone, she is getting around amazingly and acting like herself if not more sleepy. Trying for pictures again.[Image Can Not Be Found]

Yay you got the photos figured out! And wow what photos. She is goooorrrgeous! The wound not so much but it's important to share. Thanks! Those incisions get super itchy. Cone city for poor Bella, at least for a while.

No more seizures or anything I hope? Paws crossed!

We just got amazing news today at our vet visit. No cancer. They biopsy was super slow to come back but it showed that she had some very rare form of arthritis which attacks and kills bone and cause bone death at the elbow and wrist. It apparently presents like cancer but is non-malignant and by removing her ailing limb she is totally clear!

Her wound site closed up and now just the top layer of skin has to heal, one more week of cone and antibiotics and she should be good to go.

She is getting really good at navigating around. She does the 12 inside stairs up like a champ ( they are carpeted) but I don't let her go down them yet. She can go down our cascading outside steps just fine but sometimes chooses to tackle the hill instead. She jumps up and down from the bed. The only thing she has a problem on is getting out of the car, she often hits her back feet when jumping down. I try to help her but sometimes she jumps before I get a chance. Once her wound is completely healed I'll start her wearing her harness ( I got the Flagline but I haven't tried it yet because I am afraid it will rub her healing wound, even in a t-shirt).

So far we haven't made it on any walks out of the yard, but she did several laps of the field while we were waiting at the vet this morning so I think she is getting her energy back.

What a great report! She's made a ton of progress since you last posted, thank you for letting us know how she is doing.

When the incision is finally healed that harness will come in handy so you can help her out. The bed is a tricky thing, you want to prevent her from impacting her limbs when jumping down (out of the car too). What about some pet stairs for the bed?

Interesting about the diagnosis and that's a total relief. Would you happen to have the exact wording of the diagnosis? We occasionally members who join because of a similar situation, and it would be good to share this information. If you have the pathology report and want to copy/paste it, that would be awesome too.

I'm so glad she doesn't have cancer!

That's amazing news!  Yay for Bella!  Now, just another week to finish healing that wound and you'll be good to go.  Thanks for the terrific update and please keep posting about Bella!  sp_hearticon2  Stacy

Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com
