Hi everyone,
A video of our tripawd Serge, and our older GSD Raven, and us, outside in the new snow. About 12" fell. Serge really has difficulty in the deep snow, as he cannot do the "Deer hop" with enough power to bring his hind leg out of the snow. He has a great time otherwise.. My wife Charlotte doesn't make "short" videos !!!!
I am the bundled up fellow under the tree, wearing my, at least, 20 yr old, tattered but trusty down filled parka. I am still thankful to all the geese that bravely "honked their last" to keep me warm. I have a nice new one, but it is not destined at this moment, to be an "outside with the dogs" garment ...lol...
Charlottes' grandson Ricky, (the one in black) is doing most of the work.. Serge will be one year old on Christmas Day.. We should have named him after someone else..... !!!
Regards
Richard

He does pretty well. Looks like he is having a great time.
I always baby my dogs. I take the snow blower through the yard to make a path for them. That was even before Sassy had her amputation (or I should say because I didn't want to traipse through deep snow) They seemed to appreciate it too LOL

Oh, by the way,
Serge found out something that is very difficult for rear leg amputee tripawds to accomplish. Raven loves to dig a large hole in the snow, and when she is done and lying down, only the tips of her ears are visible.
Serge proceeded to emulate Raven, by digging a hole using both front paws, and to his surprise, he fell down. He just doesn't have sufficient strength, or balance in his rear leg at the moment, to take his full weight, while he attempts to dig. He eventually compromised by shovelling away, using one paw at a time.
By the time we got back inside, there was one deadly tired (and soaking wet) young GSD...."A tired dog makes for a happy pawrent"

Wonderful tl see Raven annd Serge enjoying frolicing in the snow! BEAUTIFUL SIGHT!!!
The visual you painted of Serge figuring out how to dig his "snow bed like Raven has just warmed my heart! What a sweet and SMART boy! Nothing's gonna hold him back!
Snow cones fo everyon!!!
Thanks for the fun video....and no video of dogs is EVER too long! Your wife did a fine job!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
MICHELLE...snow blowing a path...love it!!!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Yep, he's doing really well! Thanks for sharing the fun (but chilly looking!) video. He'll get that core strength built up soon, it took Wyatt Ray about a year after his amp to get to the point where he could go dashing through snow without any issues. He does get tired though, snow is quite a difficult workout for even the most physically fit Tripawd.
Don't forget you can sign up for our Tripawd Conditioning Course that's starting soon and that will make a huge different for Serge.
