Hi there,
What a wonderful community to have stumbled upon! We have a 120 lb 6-year-old Leonberger named Rufa who was diagnosed last week with osteosarcoma in his front right leg. We quickly did a lot of research (with the help of this site and ebooks!) and decided to amputate and begin chemo afterwards. Rufa's surgery is this Monday and we are scrambling to get everything together we will need to help him recuperate. We have hardwood floors which he slips on from time to time with 4 legs, so I'm really wanting to avoid any mishaps and I thought the boots might do the trick.
I'd love to hear about experiences with boots for dogs, specifically the Ruff Wear brand (large breeds experiences are a bonus!). I'm also wondering how to find ones big enough to fit our big fellow, whose paws measure 4.0 inches wide (!). I also live in Canada so they seem harder to find up here. I've been searching and searching online and all I can find are the sizes that go up to 3.25". I'm wondering if the extra large sizes have been discontinued?
Anyway, any feedback and experiences you might have with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Ruffwear boots will not fit a 4" paw. the best bet is to place carpet runners down throughout the house for traction .
