I received Kermit's Ruff Wear harness yesterday (amazing service, thank you!)clap and had a question about fit.  The rear strap is under Kermit's belly, between his sheath & his ribcage, and the handle on top of his back seems closer to his middle than over his back.  It feels as though, when I hold the handle, I'm not supporting him from the ribcage & area behind his withers, but rather yanking his guts up toward his spine.rasberry  Did I order a size too big, thus making the whole thing too long for him?

Could you need to adjust the straps? I just got a harness too and I also noticed the handle seems to be closer to the tail end, but when  I lift her the weigh is supported a lot by the middle strap. The last strap is a bit loser, which wasn't intentional but maybe it makes a difference

I've tried to adjust it so that the whole thing shifts forward a bit, but any more & I'd strangle him! laughing

If I want the middle strap to do most of the supporting I have to hang onto the little metal ring that's in front of the handle.

He's a right front amputee so it's really important that I not shift him forward onto his face when I help him.

How about calling RuffWear and getting their ideas?  Maybe even get a photo to send them?  Web chat?

Why didn't I think of that? rasberry clap I probably could have gone smaller but I think I've gotten it to where it works as designed... but I'll send them some photos & make sure I have it right.

thanks!

Dharma thanks again for your order! You can also feel free to contact us, our # is on the order emails we sent to you.

Have you tried adjusting it from the front area where all three straps converge at the Ruff Wear logo, at the chest? You can slide those buckles up or down toward the harness to bring it forward or move away from the front of the body. I can probably explain this better on the phone if you want to call, we are pacific time.

Thanks Jerry!  I think we have it under control, and I did shorten those front straps up all the way.  So the front of the top handle is basically right behind his withers.  He's only wearing it when I take him out because his incision isn't healed yet, but it doesn't really cover any of the incision anyway. We might need to switch to the next size down when he's able to exercise more & loses a few pounds, but for now I think it's working. big-grin
