First let me say that I'm not sure this is the right place in the forums to post pics. I looked for a show and tell category or a pictures category to go under and start a ne thread but didn't see any. So since the Ruffwear harness has to do with mobility I thought Hopping Around would be the most appropriate place to post pics. Anyone have any insight if I'm in the right spot?
Secondly, I'd like to thank Julie (samson007) for generously passing along her dog's harness to my tripawd Meeko. She was not only sweet enough to send it to Meeko via priority mail but the package also included a large dog bone and bunny ears that her dog Samson used to wear. Julie also enclosed a few little gifts for me, the human owner. To say that I was deeply touched by this sentiment is an understatement. THANK YOU Julie!!
Here are some pics of Meeko with his new harness:
I am really happy that he has a well fitting harness. He wore it today to go for his first outing since amputation 13 days ago. I had to go to a meeting with the people from my pet therapy group. The meeting was at the doggie obedience school I took Meeko to for training. The handlers, myself included, brought their dogs to the meeting today so Meeko got to see and socialize with his dog friends. They all accepted him as a tripawd and acted like nothing was different. It was a great day!! I can't believe tomorrow, Monday, will be 2 weeks post amp!!
-Kayla, Meeko's mom
Our tripawd is Meeko. Four and a half year old male Leonberger. Certified therapy dog with his CGC. Diagnosed with grade 1 chondrosarcoma 9-16-12. Right rear leg amputated 10-1-12. We also had Casper who was an 8 year old Great Pyrenees diagnosed with osteosarcoma. We sent him to the Rainbow Bridge 10-29-11.
He looks fantastic! Very noble in that last pic!
(And isn't Julie the best? Wow - Samson's ears.... that is a big honor. We got her Angel Daisy's harness for our Abby. Abby added some hair to it, and now it is worn by Kayla. The Angel Exchange is pretty cool.)
Hope Meeko continues to do well,
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
This is a fine place to post your pics!
Meeko is a beautiful boy, and very stylish in his Dalmatian scented harness.
This is a wonderful, giving community. I got a bottle of supplements through the exchange that had belonged to two different Tripawds. The generosity of my Tripawd friends was so special, I still have the empty bottle sitting on my kitchen windowsill.

Yes, this is a great place for these pics, thanks so much for sharing them with us. Meeko is just soooo handsome! And I agree, what an honor to get Samson's bunny ears! Julie is too cool. When someone posts an item in the Angel Exchange, it's such a generous thing to do, we are always so moved by fellow Tripawders' generosity. I'm glad you got to feel the love.
That's terrific that your outing went well. Isn't it weird how humans think that dogs will make a big deal out of meeting a Tripawd, but in reality, when it happens it's no big deal to the dogs involved? Everyone needs to follow their lead.
Hopppy Two Week Ampuversary Meeko! You're looking great!
