I haven't found anything on here so am wondering if anyone has had a dog be too hot? This was one of the first symptoms she started with (way before limping). It would be in the middle of the night where she'd get up and go to the middle of our bedroom floor and loudly flop onto the floor like she was so hot she was going to pass out. It was a very dramatic-actress-type move. Then we'd notice how when she'd normally lay outside in the sun for hours, that she'd only do a few minutes before wanting to come in. She's still doing this now, several months later and after amputation. This weekend, one evening she was laying on the couch sprawled out (laying this way is a fairly new position for her too) and her body felt like an oven, it was so hot to touch. The vet has had us take her temperature a few times at home (when it was still undiagnosed as cancer) and it was on the warm side, but never a really high fever. She was diagnosed with a bacterial infection a couple months ago, but that has since cleared from the antibiotics, so it shouldn't be from that, but it also doesn't seem to be related to cancer either?
Is she on any meds?
(As a side note: Where in MN are you located? We are in an eastern suburb of the TC area...)

Hmmmm...my first thought is, what kind of exercise is she getting? Perhaps it's just too much and she may not be strong enough for the activities she's doing? And is she panting when she flops down?
Or like Megan said it could be medications too.
More details and maybe we could guess but of course your vet is the ultimate resource for troubleshooting this. I'm curious though so do keep us posted.

This started before the pain medications. Both vets that have been involved with her case didn't have an explanation for why she's hot. Sometimes she's panting, but not usually. It really struck me as odd this weekend when her whole body was pretty much radiating heat. Everywhere I touched her felt hot. Not warm, hot. We keep finding her laying in odd spots too like the back door. We're thinking she's trying to find a cool area. If she still had the infection it would make sense, but we know that's cleared.
We're up in Duluth. Land of summer's finally here, but leaves are starting to fall!
Hmmm...well about the only thing I can recommend is to see a holistic vet. Why holistic? Because from what I know about docs who practice Eastern-based medicine, they believe that the body runs "hot" and "cool" depending on one's current state of health. They often prescribe certain foods and supplements to help get the body to an ideal temperature. Our Resources Page has links to locating one near you.
Duluth is a pretty big place, you should be able to find one there. We really loved your city when we visited there, it's so pretty right there on the big lake, like a little San Francisco! Our leaves are starting to turn here in Colorado too (we're at 8500' so it happens earlier than other parts of the state).
Let us know what you find out.
