Hi all,
Today is Barney's one month ampuversary. After a rough first two weeks, Barney is adjusting well and wanting to get out and about more. Pre-surgery, Barney had daily hour-long walks to the dog park and frequent weekend day trips. We live in San Francisco so favorite spots were Fort Funston, Ocean Beach, the Marin Headlands, and Alamo Square.
If there are other members from the Bay Area, do you have any tips on outings that work well for getting back into the swing of things? Barney is an 11 year old Corgi/Australian Shepherd mix and lost his front left leg because of a mast cell tumor.

Happy first month ampuversary, Barney! Sounds like you are on the way to a great life on three legs. Wishing you many months ahead!

Hey Barney, glad to hear you're doing well and getting back on your feet! And yes, there are plenty of members in the Nor Cal area: the Pugapalooza, Shelby, Cemil, and the Oaktown Pack! I'm sure they'll chime in here and give you some really great places to go. In the meantime, Happy One Month Ampuversary!!!!
Hoppy Ampuversary Barney! Wow, you gotta meet the rest of the Bay Area Tripawders so they can give you a three paws up in person. In the meantime, we are cheering you on from across the globe! Keep on showing the world that senior pups can do great on three legs.
I used to go to those places you mentioned when we lived in NorCal, man you are so lucky! Fort Funston is the best dog beach play area ever! Did you know that walking in sand is great exercise? I think you're on the right track.

Happy Ampuversary Barney!
Maggie loat her left rear leg to a MCT'S and made almost 4 years as a Tripug! I live in Livermore with two quad pugs now and we get together with the Nor Cal Tripawds crew every few months at the Mill Valley Dog Park. When we do get together it is usually the second Saturday of the month. Keep an eye on the Tripawd Partiys forum, Shelby usually announces the date.
I can't really give you any big parks or places to go, after Maggie's amp we stuck pretty close to home, although she did go to several Tripawd meet ups. The Mill Valley dog park is pretty awesome, but you have probably been there.
I hope we get to meet you soon!

Happy ampuversary Barney! What a cutie you are!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman.
