We have intentionally been offline and enjoying every day we have with Otis as the extra gift that it is! March 8 was our 2 month ampuversary. Otis is drug free, enjoying short walks, indoor scent games, and running around in the backyard. Finally got a very short video of Otis running and thought I would share here as a tribute to all of the other videos that we watched that convinced us Otis could be a happy tripawd!

Otis on the run

Love to all of our hoppy friends and their human chaperones!

I am heartbroken to share that Otis crossed the bridge today around noon. He was doing so well up until the very end. For anyone reading this who is considering amputation, please know that we don't regret it AT ALL. It gave us 4 months, almost to the day exactly, of very good quality of life. Otis started having trouble breathing late last week and then the past few nights couldn't sleep. He was gagging a lot, and he seemed miserable. As devastated as I was, I knew, from all of the resources here, what was going on and that I had to be open to seeing his signs. He just wanted to sit alone in the yard and couldn't get comfortable on either side. He crossed the bridge peacefully with four of his favorite people by his side. Our wonderful vet was so incredible and it brought me some small relief to see Otis be able to find comfort as the sedative kicked in.

Thank you to all of you who supported us on our tripawd journey. Of course I wish Otis had lived to be older. Seven seems so young! But it was seven amazing years with my best friend. ♥️ to all of our tripawd friends.

Oh Camille I am so sorry 😥😥  My heart is with you. I'm glad that he went peacefully. You did everything to give him the best in life. He was very fortunate to have such a wonderful family and I know you loved him with everything that you have. He will always be in your heart as he watches you from above.

Lots of love,

Jackie and Huck ❤️

Oh our hearts go out to you and your pack, we are so very sorry. I can't imagine it was easy to write this update.

Otis fought like a champ, and he left this world with dignity and grace thanks to your courage. It's a very difficult thing to know when to release our beloved animals from their broken bodies, but you followed your mamma's instinct. You gave him your heart and soul right up until the end, always honoring his spirit, and for that he will always be by your side.

If and when you are ready and you want to post a tribute in Coping with Loss, we would love to look back and cherish the memories of Otis' happy life with you.

With many condolences and much love coming your way...

Oh Camille, sweet friend, I am so, so sorry to hear Otis has earned his silver wings 😔

Time is never enough with our babies, it is always extremely hard to let them go 😔

But, nevertheless, this is the only thing we can do for them when there are no further options for our babies to live painfree ...

May you take comfort in the fact Otis is now forever free and happily flying from cloud to cloud with Angel Eurydice and all of our other Angels 💗🕊💗

He will be watching over you, you can be sure of that and he will make sure you, his adored Mommy, will know how happy he is 🌟💕

Just open your heart, sweetie 💖

Sending you all my love 😘😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹
