Hi Roxy & family, thanks for joining us!
Smart of you to ask about traction . Yes, slippery floors are not good.
Here's a helpful list of traction ideas for Tripawds.
What kind of dog are you? We'd love to hear more.

Welcome Roxy:
We have ceramic tile floors throughout our entire house; we were afraid that Rusty would injure his remaining hind leg so we installed indoor/outdoor carpeting from Home Depot in our entry, hallways, and rooms that he frequents. It comes in 6 ft width and unlimited length, which makes installation easy and cost us less than 75 cents a square foot. Since this was meant to be temporary, we did not glue it down. Rusty now zooms around the house better than when he had all four legs.
Chuck & Rusty
Rusty is a Labradoodle who was diagnosed with level 3 Fibrosarcoma on January 16th, 2010 and had his left hind leg amputated on January 25th, 2010 five days before his 18 month birthday. Please see Rusty's blog @rusty.tripawds.com. He is putting up one heck of a fight against this terrible disease.
The best "traction
socks" we have found are the Power Paws Traction Socks for Dogs.
Non-slip carpet runners through high-traffic areas also help greatly. See the link Jerry provided for other solutions.

Thanks everyone! Roxy is a nine year old boxer, diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in her left foreleg. She had the surgery this past Thursday and is making small improvements. We will be going ahead with chemo in two weeks time. My husband removed the stairs to the backyard and built a ramp with outdoor carpeting which is working wonderfully. She has initiated getting around on her own since she's been home, but of course with some hesitancy. Right now we are tackling wound care, which as a nurse, I figured I would be fine with. Funny how objectivity gets thrown out the window when their your own. I am so grateful to have found such a helpful site, and with such a warm welcome. I look forward to sharing more with you as new obstacles arise. One day at a time over here.
Hugs to all of you and yours,
AJ and Roxy
Welcome Roxy!
We have another boxer named Roxy too here!
They have some inexpensive rubber backed throws and runners at Walmart. I have a lot of ceramic tile also and put them down everywhere.
Even though I don't have a tripawd anymore, I'm still nervous about my young dogs slipping.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Hi guys,
Minor setback last night. Roxy's wound started bleeding pretty significantly. We made a 3am trip to emergency and were able to control the bleeding overnight. We went to our vet this morning and unfortunately had to leave her over-night with a drain. There was also some necrotic tissue that needed to be addressed. Grrrrr...this is so tough. Here's hoping she can come home tomorrow. It's just not the same around here without her.
Sorry to hear about that! We hope Roxy makes it over this hurdle and gets back on the road to recovery quickly.
Don't miss our video interview with Dr. Pam (aka: tazziedog) describing seromas and other complications. Post-op seromas are common, and they often leak, but shouldn't bleed. The video addresses what to look for.
