Hello. I hope her surgery went well. I also live in a split level and I had ramps built for my Abby. She is a 10year old Golden who lost her front leg to OSA. At first she was very hesitant. Make sure the ramps are covered in something that is non-slip. I have carpet on my inside ramp and artificial grass on the outside ramp. If she is nervous about the open sides try to put things on the side to enclose the ramp. You may also want to block the steps so that the ramp is her only option. My Golden is food motivated but more than that she is “mommy” motivated. She hates me to ne out of sight so I went upstairs and she cried and cried but eventually she came up the ramp because she wanted to be with me. Sometimes tough love is the best medicine. With a large breed front amputation going down is always harder than going up. Abby kinda slides/skis down the inside ramp. Going up you need to make sure there is enough room for her to get kinda a running start. Ramps definitely can be done and for Abby is was a must. Attach pics of your ramps and maybe we can offer more advice.
