Hi there,I hope that Tuck is still doing well. We are facing exactly the same situation with our 4 month old Malinois, Mishka. She had her leg amputated at two months before we adopted her and we now have the bad news that she has terrible hip dysplasia and her remaining joint is completely out of the socket, making movement very painful and awkward. We would have to wait another 5 months for her to grow sufficiently to have a hip replacement and even then the outcome is uncertain. Feeling so desperate for her and just wanted to hear how your journey continued after the replacement of Tuck's hip.
Thanks so much, Martin

I'm so sorry you're facing this with your sweet puppy. Here are posts about Tripawds who had remaining leg surgeries that may inspire you and give you hope. Again, start a new topic so we can provide more input OK? See you there!

Hello! I am here on day 2 after my tripod blue heelers total hip replacement on his only hip. The doctors were so casual about recovery, but it has already been so intense. They want me doing physical therapy movements with his leg but he can't even put any weight on it yet and seems to be in severe pain. His powerful draw toward following me everywhere makes this very complicated, and I am basically living on his dog bed with him. We didn't sleep much last night, he would pop up randomly and try to walk. They gave me a sling to walk him with but he can't stand up enough yet to even make that useful. Bathroom is HARD, he has to learn to pee while I hold him which hasn't been working well. No poop yet. The ground is snow/ice covered which makes it more complicated. Going to call the vet today as they acted like he would be up walking yesterday and that feels far away....
Hi Blueberry's mom! Sooo sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I'm glad you are calling your vet. It sounds like your dog needs his pain management adjusted so be sure to advocate for that. Also see if they can give you better instruction on the recovery stretches and movements. I think once his pain gets under control it should be easier to do them.
Be sure to check out our posts about remaining leg surgery in Tripawds when you get a chance.
Also, please start an all new topic here so that we can better help you on your recovery journey OK? I'll look for your new topic. Oh and if you join as a member all of your posts after the first one won't need approval.
