Well, we picked up Minnie from the clinic today, she stayed overnight so they could make sure she was comfortable before we took her home. What a great dog we have! The vet told us she was doing incredibly well, and was not even fazed by the fact that she was missing a leg. It was so amazing to see Minnie come out of the back room, tail wagging and bum wiggling away!!!

I know we'll have to be sure and keep her calm while she's healing, but it's so great to see her doing so well. She's on anti-inflammatories for 3 more days, and some antibiotics. We're taking her back in on Friday to change her bandage and remove her pain patch.

Thank you again to everyone who sent messages of support, I am looking forward to Minnie's pain free life, now that's she's rid of that bum leg! And I would like to send out love and thanks to the staff at the Alpine Vet Clinic in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Love,
Minnie the new-tripawd, Colleen And Dennis xoxo

It's great to hear that Minnie is home and recovering well. We have heard of some dogs not tolerating the Fentynal patch too well, so if minnie starts panting, pacing, or crying out, do not be too concerned. It may not be that she is still in pain, perhaps just freaking out about the pink elephants flying around.

Welcome home Minnie, and best wishes for a complete speedy recovery!

Whitehorse?!! You definitely get the award for most Northern tripawd, by a long shot.

Perhaps you will also need to find Minnie some winter clothes! Although since she does not have cancer and will not have chemo, the fur should grow back quickly.

Glad to hear everything is going well and you have Minnie home.  Remember the next two weeks may be hard even though she is high on adrenalane and pain killers!  Hopefully it will calm but if not know that this to shall pass,  I am so happy Minnie is fine.

Great news! Very glad that Minnie is doing so well and I am sure that she will adapt very quickly. I need to echo the recomendations above that the next two weeks could be rough and that not all tolerate the Fentynal patch well.  It is not uncommon for a negative reaction to occur to that or other pain-killers a day or so after they are home and in more comfortable surroundings.  Cherry and I believe Emily had problems with one of the painkillers that required us to remove that from the regiment.  Just stay calm and up-beat and Minnie will amaze you with her recovery ability.

Yea Minnie- gotta love small black tripawds!!

Maggie had a fentynal patch and tolerated it pretty well. She had some diarrhea, but that may have been from the other meds.

So should I mention that in my part of California it is supposed to be about 65 and sunny tomorrow?

Karen and the pug girls.
