Hello Tripawds family.
We celebrated Johnnie's 8th month ampuversary on Jan 20th with a nice day at the pool. I finally managed to make a "viewable" video. This is one of Johnnie's favorite games: fishing for leaves. Looks like a bear fishing for salmon. What is funny is how he puts his muzzle in the water and makes bubbles !!!
p.s. just turn the sound off or down because couldn't figure how to change the original sound for a cool movie (yet).
Johnnie - fishing for leaves - January 2015
Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.
OMG ... that's amazing!!!! He looks great! I can't even tell which leg he is missing. What a great way to celebrate. I love how he bobs his head in and out of water. SO fun.
Thank you for sharing!
hugs,

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Pawesome!!!

Hey Daniela now that you're becoming a cinematographyer why not get a YouTube account going so we can start sharing his videos? YouTube also makes it easy to add music & edit videos & stuff.

Thanks so much for all the kind messages. Sally had asked for a video of him swimming - took me some time but I was able to get one up. There is another one I am editing of him actually swimming, and another of Pepa playing water polo. Jerry's Pack - I will try to perfect my skills and put the videos up on Youtube. It's also a way to disseminate info on tripawds.
regards to all,
Daniela & Johnnie

That's pawesome Daniela, thanks! Perfection is not needed, anytime you can show a Tripawd loving life like Johnnie is, that's all that's required. Yep, a YouTube channel really helps get the word out. Let us know if you have any questions about that, we'll do what we can to help.

Just this weekend I found Johnnie on the Tripawd Tuesday ! January 20th was a holiday in Rio, Johnnie's ampuversay and also the eve of my son's birthday (21 yrs old, on Jan. 21). I didn't visit the Tripawds blog for a couple of days. As said here, pawsome ! Thanks so much - great honor to be chosen. Looking back at those photos, it has been a long journey since that first week of the surgery, and now that his fur has grown back it really is hard to tell that there is something missing. This is the "new normal" and he is the same Johnnie - only more spoiled and bossy: has to have things his way and we do just that!
hugs from Daniela & Johnnie & Pepa

Hello to all. This Friday we celebrated Johnnie's 9-month ampuversary.
Still summer here - yes, still very hot - so this means many doggie pool days. I have been letting him stay sort of wet in order to feel cooler. This photo was taken after the morning swims and after lunch. Having his needed "siesta" listening to music.
His amp side is totally covered with fur by now - very tangled fur, but that's secondary. The guy deserves to have fun.
Johnnie chilling out after pool & lunch
His "protocol" is still K-9 Immunity twice a day - morning and lunch and Apocaps (once a day, 11pm). Have tried to give Apocaps in the morning but it upsets his stomach, so I let it go.

Johnnie, the fishing for leaves video was GREAT!! Not sure how I missed that one a couple weeks ago, but I sure am glad I saw it today! And Happy 9 Months, big guy! That is quite an accomplishment! I hope your Mom & Dad fixed you a real good celebration dinner. And breakfast. And lunch. And snacks! You deserve it all! Keep fishing for those runaway leaves and get them out of your pool!! Johnnie, you are AWESOME!!!!
Hoppy nine months, Johnnie! Your leaf diving reminded us so much of our Gus, but his thing was diving for rocks...the bigger the better. I don't know how he got his mouth around some of them. Keep up your good work.
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
JOHNNIE, JOHNNIE, JOHNNIE!!! How can you keep gett k ng cuter with every photo???? Apparently there is no limit to cuteness when it comes to you sweet boy!!

From Johnnie:
Thanks to all for the posts and comments on my video fishing at the pool, and photo taken on the day of my 9-month ampuversary. Little by little, my mom is beginning to understand that dog life is lived one day at a time.
Today I didn't behave very well. My acupuncture vet comes every Tuesday, and mommy wasn't home today. I just wasn't in the mood for those needles in my back legs, and on top of that there was a strange man in the laundry room fixing the washing machine. I wanted to tell Dr. Marcos that I should be watching the strange man instead of laying down for him to put needles, so I barked and growled at Dr. Marcos for him to quit that stuff and leave me alone. My "nanny" was home and told me to behave, so I let him do his stuff this time. Mommy wasn't very happy when she got home at night and found out I hadn't been a good boy. My daddy also told me I had misbehaved. I already promised I won't do this again - but I sure hope that mommy can stay home next Tuesday.
good night to all. Time for bed.
