Well, blind and 3 legs makes stairs a very tricky thing. Especially if you are just 4 months old. But Cora really wants to get off the porch and the temporary ramp I had set up wasn't working. She'd get sideways and her legs would fall off and even though I was holding her so she didn't get hurt, it was so scary she would rather fall down the stairs.
So I built a new ramp. Outdoor carpet to prevent slides. A railing so she won't fall. Plenty of support so I can walk the ramp with her.... and no matter how big Cora gets, she's not going to out-weigh me so it will work for her as an adult too.
Floyd ran up and down it, while I was working on it and he says it's just fine.

It's awesome!!!!
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
WOW AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. Thanks all. Floyd finds it fun and is bouncing on and off it like a maniac. Cora isn't too sure, but we did get some time on it today. I'm beginning to think Cora will do anything for peanut butter
Michelle, thanks for asking how Cora is doing. I have to admit I'm a little down and frustrated right now. She's having some behavior issues. Mind you, she is a 4.5 month old puppy. They typically are brats. She hates to be handled but I have no choice at times. Blah.

It's not forever. Hang in there! If we can survive Wyatt Ray's puppy antics you can survive Cora's!

I'm glad I found this, that's a nice lookin ramp! I've got a blind tripawd too (rapid onset cataracts from diabetes) and we have about 4 fairly steep steps off our front porch to where she potties. It's the only route to the yard unfortunately. We rent so I can't put up anything permanent; I'm wondering about getting a big sheet of plywood or paneling and just laying it over the steps? I'd have to make sure it fits well so it wouldn't come loose. With winter coming, I'm scared to death she's gonna slip and break something. She used to slip sometimes when she could see, and now that she's blind it's twice as hard. Ideas?
I'm Crystal, but you can call me Katymom. :) I'm Triproud of my Tripawd!

that outdoor green carpet is perfect for ramps.. we even had them outside for Franklin on the deck because when it got icy, or even warm and the snow melted and re-froze, it was slippery!
Katydid... use that on the ramp... that gives them lots of traction !
glad to hear that Cora is doing well.. and hopefully the grumpy puppy stage won't be for long.. You really ... and I mean REALLY.. are doing a great job with her. I keep thinking about how many people would just give up...
you are a sweetie!! *hug*
