She pants a lot, especially at night. I don't know if she's having pain, or if it's anxiety, or what it is.

And she is licking her remaining front paw all the time.

Lisa! Oh my dog Gelly's update just made my morning, thank you so much for letting us know. What an inspawration! clap

It does sound like something is bothering her, so yes, do have that checked out. It could be something as simple as a little thorn or tiny paw cut, a fox tail or something like that. Hopefully it's super easy to treat.

I do like that she's walking on couch cushions, that's good exercise for a lady her age! If you can bribe her with treats, you can have her walk over and around little obstacles placed on the floor, like a couple of broom sticks. Just anything to change up her walking routine to help her maintain good balance.

Here's a post about adding images to the Forums. Basically you just need to copy/paste your photo URL from wherever you originally uploaded it, like Facebook, Flickr, etc. Come back here, choose the little Photo Icon in your post editing tool bar and paste the URL into the box. If you'd like help just holler, I'm happy to do so.

Can't wait to see the pics!

You have such an amazing pup!! Girls rule! 🙂 my boy took longer to get back on his feet and was quite a bit younger.

You 've been given great advice and I would also have that paw checked out. If I can add my two cents here: if at all possible you should look into physio therapy. I love how you work with the cushions, that's fantastic! I can just add that even a year later we still go to PT about every other week and it helps a lot with the sore muscles especially in the back and the remaining front paw. The strain is obviously pretty great and PTs always have pretty neat ways of keeping everything as fit as possible.

I am actually soooooo happy that my dog gets to see his 10th birthday tomorrow so I am in awe of your girl!!

Loooove that picture!! Look at that sweet Gelly standing proud! 🙂 🙂 I am soooo in love with that grey muzzled face!! Sweeeeet!! 🙂

At 15 yrs, just recovering from major surgery, adjusting to three legs...WOW! This girl is truly amazing! Whatever kind of "exercises" you do with her, they need to be slow and gentle. First though, I'd try a d figure out why she's uncomfortable at night.

HAPPY THREE WEEK AMPUVERSARY GELLY!! Keep em coming little Miss ROCK STAR 🙂 🙂

Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
