Thank you for the messages of support. I'd like you all to know we did read them at the time but just didn't quite know what else to say the guilt attached to putting her through the op was so huge we got a little lost for a while. 🙁
Thank you once more for the amazing resource you have created here and hugs alround. Xx
Oh goodness, none of us expected replies so no worries. I'm so glad you posted though. You certainly jave been in our hearts. We can all only hope that you TRULY undertand in your heart and Soul that you did what you HAD to do when faced with these awful "forced choices". We don't have crystal balls and we can only move forward with options that offer hope. Those decisions are made out of love and leave no room for guilt.
Have you had any "signs" from Jay? Any sense of his energy being present with you? And, of course, the big question, has Jay shown you any "hints" that he's sending you a dog who needs to be loved? A dog who could help put joy back in your heart? Just curious.......
Lots of love and hugs

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I do know deep down that it was right to give her the chance, I also think it's pretty normal to feel like that especially as the driving force behind the decision was give quality of life and I don't feel that we improved that just altered things.
I think you'll be pleased to know that we have found another pup to share our home and hearts with however. We started out looking for a terrier - something we were planning to do before Jay fell ill. However we ended up being put in touch with a friend of a friend who had a 10wk dalmatian looking for a home. It truly was one of those ment to be moments, the last of a litter and unknown to us we'd seen them advertised as a full litter a few weeks before and thought he looked lovely!
He is such a sofa baby, Jay would be so jealous as due to her upbringing before we got her she had to be banned from the furniture for the safety of the occupants!! This week I finally brought one her old beds back in and put it in 'her' corner for him to use instead of his cage. It was a big moment for me but felt right, he ignored it to start with but has started to use it now. 🙂
Congrats on your new addition! I know that one dog can never replace another, but it does solve the problem of what to do when food falls on the floor. It took me at least an hour to figure out that cheese dropped on the floor after my two dogs passed would not go away on its own. And, it sounds like in some way, the new pup was meant to be. (I also adopted another dog a couple of weeks after my Tess passed. The instant I saw the new dog in my home, I knew that he belonged there).
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
JAY IS ADORABLE!!! What a cutie pa tootie!!! I love where she has her heard falling asleep on yiur foot 🙂 And then nose to nose with the kitty...sooooo cute! You could just see little Miss Jay was full of personality!! And she was clearly loved and spoiled!!
And now she has sent you this precious Dalmatian puppy to share your love with. I know he is bringing you a lot of much needed joy and laughter 🙂
No dog ever "replaces" another one. They do, however, add another layer of love and happiness for us to experience again. Each one comes to us with their own individual life lessons for us to learn that help us evolve into better human beings.
I think Jay is just fine with letting this puppy use her bed. She would want it to be used in a way that would give you good memories..and create new good memories with your puppy.
We HAVE to see pictures! And what's his name?
Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures of precious Jay AND the news of your new puppy...meant to be puppy! 🙂
Love and hugs
