Im a new mom to a front tripawd Husky. Leia is just over a year old, so of course she is still a puppy and full of energy. Our fence at home is not completely closed in (we are in the process of building it), but I don't like to deprive Leia from being outside to enjoy the weather and run around as we have a big back yard. We have a 50ft chain that is in the ground and we hook it up to her harness. I'm always home when she is outside but I cant be watching her constantly. So i usually put her out with her harness and let her do her thing for a little bit. However, just recently in the last 2 weeks almost everytime I put her harness on her she houdinis her way out of it. I can't for the life of me figure out how she does it and her harness isn't loose at all. She has run away 2 times, and my heart sinks every time. I simply can't continue like this for her sake and mine. Right now im having to keep her on a close leash in the yard with her while she does her business which means she doesnt have any freedom and my heart breaks for her.

Does anybody have any suggestions for me to help fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome! Your future forum posts will not require moderation.

What type of harness do you use for Leia? Wyatt is a Houdini himself, and he has never escaped his Ruffwear Webmaster harness , nor did Jerry, also a front-legger who always wore his.

Huskies are notorious escape artists.  Have you considered getting a fully enclosed dog run, with enclosed roof too as they can climb?  That way she can enjoy being outside without being chained up, which she clearly isn't happy about.
