Hi everyone....my lab mix Cisco had her right front leg amputated four weeks ago due to mast cell tumor.  She has recovered really well and is doing great.  I purchased the Flagline harness for her, but I'm having trouble getting a good fit where it won't slide around to the side.  Are there any tips to keeping it straight?  After awhile I find I have to take it off and reposition again.  Any tips or advice is appreciated...thank you 🙂

I'm so glad Cisco is doing great! Got any photos and videos of your lovely girl? We would enjoy seeing her hoppy self 🙂 Also it may help us pinpoint the issue.

As for the Flagline harness fit . . . hmmm. On a front leg amputee, any harness will slip a little bit but the Flagline hardly slips at all on most front-leg Tripawds, much less than the others we carry, that's why we love it so much. With six different adjustment points I'm thinking that it's not adjusted properly and is too loose. You should be able to snugly fit two fingers underneath each strap.

Have you played with all six slider buckles? Try adding more tension to the right side straps and see if that helps. Don't forget the neck area is adjustable, so the harness may be too far back on Cisco.

Also see this blog post (It's written with EzyDog harnesses in mind but the concept is the same for all dog harnesses:

The #1 Dog Harness Fitting Mistake People Make

Thank you so much, Jerry! I will definitely take a look at that and play around with all the adjustments.  I'm probably not making it snug enough for fear of it being too tight or uncomfortable for her.  I'd love to upload a few photos or videos of my girl, but I have no idea how to do that.  Are there any links that can show me how to do it?  Thanks again 🙂

The easiest way to share videos here is to upload them to Youtube first, or Vimeo. Then you can simply paste the Share link and the movie will auto-embed in your forum post.

Here are detailed instructions for adding photos to forum posts . If you don't already share photos online somewhere, you can start a free Tripawds blog any time and upload them there. Need further help? Post in the Tech Support forum and we'll be happy to help!

Oh benny 55....we signed up to become a foster home for a local lab rescue where we live.  They put a plea out on Facebook in urgent need of foster homes.  Cisco was our first foster...her owner had passed away a few days before we got her 🙁  I knew within a few hours that we would end up adopting her, as we all fell in love right away because she was such a sweetheart!  A few days of having her and I noticed a large lump around her right elbow. I used to work at a vet clinic as a tech assistant years ago and had a bad feeling.  I called our vet the next day and took her in....they aspirated and said it was either mast cell or soft tissue sarcoma and the only cure would be amputation.  I scheduled the surgery for the following week and she had her surgery on April 9th.  So...to answer your question lol, her name was already Cisco when we adopted her.  Poor thing has been through so much in such a short period of time....losing her previous owner and fur sibling, and now her amputation.  She's been amazing and resilient though and such a perfect fit with our family.  She is very loved here!

Thanks for sharing  Cisco's "gotcha' story"..otherwise known winning the Puppy Lottery!!

Goodness knows he has been thru a lot os such a short time!  Geez!  What a story!  I know his "hooman in Heaven" helped guide him to you. ❤

We love foster fails around here!!   No one would have given Cisco the care and love he so desperately  needed like you and your family have.  ,eamt ro be definitely.

Thank you soooo much for bringing  Cosco into your heart.....as I know he has done with you❤

Yep! But the video does not embed because it is private.

Youtube says:

This video is private.

The video must be set to public to embed and display here.

Hi Cisco's mom!  Yep, the link works now.  What a total cutie!  And, what an amazing story of Cisco joining your family!  She looks like she was moving really well in the video at 2 weeks post-op, so I bet she is a rock star at 4 weeks now!  Please keep the videos and photos of the fantastic Cisco coming!  ~ Stacy (Griffin's Journey)

Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com
