Hi Everyone, I'm new to the site and just recently adopted a tripawd. She's a beautiful girl who had her amputation back in June from an accident I was told.
My question is, she came from her foster home with a harness that she had chewed. My husband and I then went out and bought a new one for her and she has chewed this one also. Should a Tripawd be wearing a harness or is she telling us she doesn't like it . It ofcourse keeps shifting as her amputated paw is her right front .
Thanks for the help. We're still trying to learn. 🙂

Hi Lori, welcome! Thanks for adopting a Tripawd! When was her Gotcha Day?
Not all Tripawds need harnesses, but those who go lots of places, live in homes with stairs or slippery floors, and need to get in and out of the car can really benefit from one. Our Tripawds Gear blog has harnesses recommended for Tripawds.
It may be that she was introduced too abruptly to a harness. We recommend making a slow introduction and getting her used to it. Here's a blog post with some tips that may help:

Hi!
My 30 pound hound is also having a difficult time with harnesses. I've tried a few and they all slip. She popped right out of one. (She lost her left front leg.) As an alternative, I have found her martingale collar, which tightens when she pulls against a leash or tie out, is at least as reliable. But I am still working on finding a way to secure a harness better.
Hi, thanks again for joining us! Have you seen the harnesses in our Tripawds Gear shop? Tried any? We've tested them all on Tripawds and while not every harness we recommend works for every Tripawd, the ones in our store work the best that we know of for both front and rear leg amputees. Also keep in mind that all harness will rotate to some degree on a front-leg Tripawd, but we've found that the Ruffwear Webmaster and the Ezydog Convert Harnesses slip the least. Of course they shouldn't fall constantly while wearing it.
