hey! So I've not posted in a while... sorry! My Scooby is doing well, 17 months post amputation for osteosarcoma and loving life.

in the last week or so we have found a couple of lumps, one on his left back rump area, one on his neck and then today we have found 2 more. They are all small ish (no larger than an almond say) and you can move them around under the skin.

we took him to the vet on Friday who took samples from the 2 we had found then but we have to wait til Wednesday for the results and I'm working myself into a frenzy worrying about it all. Has anyone else had experience of this? Could it just be cysts or something else non-cancerous?! Any advice gladly taken xx

First of all Happy 17 Months sweet Scooby!  Wonderful job!   Many many dogs develop bumps as they age.   I know Meg just had a lump that turned out to be a cyst and Michelle too with both Snickers and Bosch.  My Ollie developed a fatty tumor so there's lots of reasons for those bumps as they age. I remember reading long ago it's a good sign if you can move them.  Try not to worry most are totally B9.  But I know how hard it is to control the mind after going through this journey.  It always takes us to that dark place.  Will be sending light and prayers for Scooby and you but I'm betting they turn out to be NBD non lumps.  (No big deal).  Keep us posted!  Hugs!

WOW SCOOBY!!! HAPPY SEVENTEEN MONTH AMPUVERSARY!!!! 🙂 🙂 REALLY???? THAT LONG AGO???? You are doing sooooo well and we are all sooo happy! 🙂 🙂
Yeah, this seems to be lump and bump season!!!

As Linda said, it's easy to jump to worst case scenarios. That's what we ALL do so well here!!!
Prior to tuis crazy journey, most of us would probably just "watch" a lump and do nothing about it.

Hang in there! If it's something that needs treatment, you and Scooby will handle it together just fine!! And we're al here with you!

But right now we have a big reason to celebrate!! Ice cream and cake anr always called for with AMPUVERSARIES!! 🙂

Hang in there and update when you can!! And BE MORE SCOOBY....NO WORRIES!!
Hugs!

Thank you both xx

Scooby is amazing and I can't believe it's been 17 months - he's adapted so well. I just hope it's nothing too serious as he's been through so much already bless his heart.

I'll keep you updated when I hear back from the vet

I know it's hard not to worry but we've seen many times here when a lump has turned out benign. Most times it's nothing more than a lipoma (fatty tumor, not cancerous). I'm glad you're so on top of things and got it checked out though, good job!

We are all chatting "B9! B9! B9!" so keep us posted ok?

Have heard from vets- turns out one of the lumps is suspicious and may have cancerous cells. The other one is not suspicious but lab have recommended removal or biopsy to confirm.

Feeling a bit numb tbh. Hate cancer.

got to wait til Tuesday now (public holiday here on Monday) to speak to my vet that is overseeing him to confirm plan of action.

SCOOBY! No more lumps, okay?

Sounds like you'll be able to get the lump that looks "suspicious" taken out. So hang tight and wsit to talk to your Vet Tuesday. I know it seems like Tuesday will never come when a holiday is involved!

And remember, do not let worrying about that piece of crap disease interfere with your time together! Worrying takes you out of the prese t and robs you kf staying in the moment with Scooby! Whatever "it" is, you'll come up with a plan and get it under control!
Keep us in the loop! And give Scooby some ice cream on us! 🙂

Lots kf hugs

Just spoken to my vet. At last!
So the results were not fully conclusive, showed some abnormal cells which they suspect could be cancerous but they're not a typical presentation and the cells aren't metastic. They're also not sure how the lumps are linked as they're different. We've also found a couple more lumps so that's worrying too...
They think it might be wise for Scooby to have an X-ray first to check if it's spread to his lungs or anywhere else cos if it has then there's prob no point him having lumps removed and putting him through anesthetic etc
So taking him in tomorrow morning. Nervous 😩

Hugs (((())))!  We'll all be holding on to you and Scooby tomorrow at the vet and sending tons of good thoughts and prayers!  Take one step at a time and breathe.  Hopefully they'll rule out any spread and then be able to deal with the suspicious cells.  So here's some more hugs (((()))) and remember we'll all be going with you tomorrow!  Keep us posted!

Sending strong, positive thoughts for the best possible outcome tomorrow!

It's wonderful that Scooby has done so well- here's to hopping right through this challenge like the Tripawd Warrior that he is.

Thank you for all your lovely supportive messages xx

Chest x-rays were clear which is fab! But..... They've said that due to the trial he was on, he's probably immunosuppressed which means he's more to susceptible to other cancers. They're now thinking the big one is the primary tumour and the others are secondary tumours. He's having big one removed on Monday and maybe some others and will require more chemo 😰😰😰😰

theyve also said it could be histiocytic disease... not too sure what that is but trying not to get too obsessed with googling stuff.

he's home now and very sleepy from the anaesthetic bless him xx

Update....
So Scooby had 3 (the biggest) lumps removed last Wednesday. He has 3 large wounds where they were removed and looks very sorry for himself. Still waiting for results on those to come back- hopefully tomorrow.
we had also noticed some bleeding from his mouth and on further investigation, right at the back of his upper mouth I found another lump. Took him to the vets the next day as you could visibly see his mouth was swollen. Vet said it looked like an 'epilus' and sent us away to wait for lab results.
At the weekend Scooby had a major bleed in his mouth so I scheduled him in to have it removed today.
Just picked him up- very sorry for himself. Vet said it wasn't good news. Looks like a tumour and it has wrapped itself around the jaw and teeth and gums. He removed some of it but couldn't get all of it. They have sent it off for analysis.
i know it's hard to know what our next move will be as we're waiting for these results but I am starting to panic now. Is this it?
we are also booked on a 2 week holiday soon (7 weeks to go). I've checked my insurance and we're not covered for an ill pet unfortunately. I don't know what to do. Help!!

I'm afraid that I really have no useful knowledge to share, but just wanted to send you my thoughts and good wishes. This is so tough, but hang in there and here's hoping the results will provide you with some good treatment options.
