Gday all,
after my GSD AJ had her front leg amputation, I bought her the Ezydog convert harness. The advertising said it had an anti roll design. But even when adjusted correctly, the harness has a tendency to roll around her torso in the direction of her stump.
My thoughts are that because AJ is long haired, the harness sits on the hair and and moves on the hair.
Have any of you experienced this?
Were other harnesses better? Like the ruff wear webmaster.
Or am I going to see similar issues with other harnesses?
I'd love to hear from others.
regards
Brenden and AJ
Hi Brendan,
Sorry it's sliding. While the two harnesses we recommend here, the Webmaster and the Convert, are not specifically made for Tripawds, they are the two best that we've found for front and rear leg amputees. Both will have a tendency to slide a bit on front leggers the longer they wear it throughout the day but neither should slide right over. Sounds like it isn't the best size for her. What is her girth measurement and what size did you order? Have you tried adjusting the front chest strap with the velcro?
Both harnesses actually fit better on long haired dogs since there's more fluff there. But since not all dogs have the same body type and structure there's no way to guarantee that either one will work all the time. We'll do our best to help you find a way to make it work though so feel free to email us and we'll take it from there. Give that beautiful pup a smooch from us!

Thanks for the reply Jerry.
I got AJ a Large size. I can't remember her exact girth measurements, but I know it was the right size for her girth according to the ezydog sizing chart.
I have tried adjusting the front Velcro strap, making it a little loser so that the belly strap sat further away from her front legs and sat where her torso started to taper in towards her hips. Both ways didn't seem much different.
At nearly 11 months old, she's still got some growing and filling out to do. Thought I don't think she'll get much bigger. Maybe it might fit better as she grows. Though But I'm keeping her on the leaner side for her remaining legs and health.
Keeping her lean is definitely the way to go, you're on the right track. If the Convert harness doesn't work you might want to consider the Webmaster, which works for most Tripawds, even front leggers. Just like people, dogs have different shapes and what works for one may not work for the other. But email us and we'll see how we can help find that one for AJ.
