Ge'Lena, when it was happening, I thought of you! It wasn't a huge deal, really. My husband yelled and shoved a chair at them and they quit pretty quickly. I'm very sure that Dakota would not have had the tooth knocked out if a) he didn't already have incredibly weak roots in his teeth and b) Evelyn didn't get her head in the way. She's like a concrete block, so it's easy to get hurt when she's in the mix. She's bonked us in the nose before and man does it hurt! I think she's all skull.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

I don't know if this is any help but I give my Rizzo 10 mg of Benadryl twice a day for the itching associated with the mast cell cancer she has. I do more for preventative reasons because if don't give it to her for a couple days a hot spot flares up from the histamines in her system. She feels better, then I do too.

Shari,
I forgot to mention, the vet told me to give her the Benadryl and when you first start giving it to them it does mellow them out just like it does to humans.....so for his anxiety that goes along with the itching and chewing it really helps with that part too. After they've been taking it for a while they don't seem as tired or sleepy after taking it. Hope your weekend is better!

Samson has had a lick granuloma that started when Daisy died and he was left alone, we almost had it cleared up with a combination of Laser therapy, vet wrap and Bitter Apple spray. He has since reopened the wound and its 4x big.
We too are waken by the slurp slurp slurp in the middle of the night. We now give Sam a Benedryl at 10pm and it usually keeps him down until 4 or 5am.
Spirit Samson was Spirit Tripawd Daisys four legged "brother" and ruled as the self proclaimed head of the Monkeybutt Federations East Coast Division. Lady Chunky Monkey stayed from Oct 2011 and left for the bridge in Apr 2012. Miss Perdy is left and has some big pawprints to fill.

I may try Benadryl next week. The dog tussle last night has become a pretty big deal now and must be dealt with first. Dakota's upper canine tooth broke off beneath the gum line so he is scheduled for surgery Wednesday. In the meantime, he's back on Rimadyl and Tramadol for pain, and I'm hoping those will konk him out at night and stop the licking and slurping. After surgery, when he's weaned off pain stuff, I'll see if he's still doing the licking. If so, we'll go for a whirl with Benadryl. What a week!

Beauty this good takes a lot of sleep.
Oh Evelyn that wasn't very ladylike!
Which toof is missing Dakota? Maybe you should get a gold one put in there so you can get the gangsta 'tude going on?
