Poor munchkin, Conchita (6 days post-op) was crying earlier, which is most unlike her, so I gave her a thorough once-over and found a blister on her remaining front paw, between the pads. I assume it's been caused by a change in how she's moving creating friction where there wasn't any before.
I'm reluctant to take her to the vet because she obviously finds it very stressful, so I've just gone with their suggestion of flushing it with sterile saline and cleaning it with Hibiscrub. She's obviously already on ABs from her operation, so I'm hoping they will do their work here as long as we keep it clean.
It's not fair on her, poor little love 🙁
Awww.....poor sweet girl. Bummer!! It doesn't surprise me though. I'm sure you checked thoroughly to make sure she doesn't have a sliver of anything (glass, splinters, etc)
Others may chime in who've had this issue with some "home remedies" that may help.
Give that seeet girl some extra treats.
Oh, and always remember, when we have dogs as ADORABLE as Senorita Conchita, we must ALWAYS have pictures with each post!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Oooooh yes. More meds than you can shake a hairy stick at. I swear this girl rattles with every footstep. She has a total of 13 tablets a day and, considering she's one of those who likes to be sneaky with holding them in her mouth and spitting them out later, it's fun for all the family 🙂
No, there's nothing in it, I made very sure when I cleaned it. She was good as gold, not a peep from her. After years of neglect, to trust us enough to do this is amazing. She's a special girl!
I'll try to remember the photos in future. Bad doggy mum!
Oh drats I'm sorry. Yeah pressure sores tend to happen for the very reason you suspected. The change in body alignment can cause some pooches to bear weight on more tender spots. I think you are doing a good job by cleaning it with sterile saline (what's Hibiscrub?) and watching for any changes. You may also want to try Manuka Honey on the spot.
One thing you may want to consider is an assessment with a rehab therapist. A professional can examine her and find out why she's bearing weight on that spot, then show you exercises you can do to correct it. Best part is the Tripawds Foundation may pay for your first rehab visit . Click on the link for more info.

Thanks Jerry, I'll definitely look into the rehab options where we are now (Spain) and where she's going to be living post recovery (UK).
Hibiscrub is chlorhexidine gluconate, an anti-microbial skin cleanser. It binds to the skin, so protects for up to six hours. It's pretty commonly used for cleaning animal wounds in the UK, although it's designed for human use. More info: http://www.netd.....rhexidine/
Thanks for the links, you guys do a great job 🙂
Hey there Conchita (lovely name 💕) and Mom 🌺
My girl Eurydice was a very large Great Dane who, in time, developed a lot of sores on her feet due to the change brought by life on 3.
Eventually I got her custom made booties and that solved the problem completely but probably your Conchita won't have to go this far.
I haven't used Manuka Honey but have heard from others it is really marvellous (and natural)
I applied cream which helped ealing and protecting the sore areas (called sudocream) when we were living in the UK.
Good luck with the move, dress warm ...
Sending hugs and cuddles 😘😘😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹
Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)
Hi Conchita and Mom,
Looks like everybody has you covered already, that is awesome! If you don't have the healing creams/honey, you could put just a touch of triple antibiotic ointment on it a couple of times a day. Just a touch, if you don't have anything else on hand. I sure hope she is feeling better soon... oh... and pictures? Please? Nudge nudge *smile* Please give your girl an extra cuddle too!
