I haven't been around the forum for quite awhile. Some things in life went a bit sideways but getting better now.
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer.
Brandy is still doing really great. It took forever for her hair to grow back but it finally came in. It's been 13 years last month that she joined our family. It will be one year in October that she had her leg amputated and I don't even really notice any more.
It's been really hot here all through July and we are lucky because we have a dog park on one side of the lake not more than a ten minute drive from where we live and the dogs can go swimming there. There is a long narrow arm on that side of the lake with lots of shallow spots and some deep pools. We've been taking the dogs down after work about 3 times each week and they've been having a blast. Chloe, my Rotti swims like a fish and even dives under the water head and all. My hubby's dog is a wader but is gradually getting braver and starting to swim a few strides. Brandy goes in too -she mostly likes to wade in the water up to shoulder level, but in one spot there is a small island where it's only a few strides of deep water to swim to, and she will go in and paddle around there a bit.
I think mostly she just likes to be out with everybody else.
She's learned to balance perfectly with her one front leg underneath her. Just lately when she's playing (yes- she's still playful at 13), I've seen her start to do that 'slide" that I've heard others talk about.
I'll have to get some pics and then figure out how to upload them.
Welcome back! And what a great update. Sounds like Roxie is doing really well. Love the good updates, they are so important for folks to see.

Love Never Ends
Glad to hear that Brandy is doing so well. Wow 13 years old - that's awesome! And congratulations are in order for her one year ampuversary coming up- that's great news! Mackenzie's not too far behind - 1 year in Nov. Here's to lots more swimming and enjoying the lake!
Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
That is fabulous news! Thank you so much for letting us know; stories like Brandy's really do mean so much to folks, especially to senior dog pawrents.
For those unfamiliar with Brandy's story, she's a senior gal who was diagnosed with hemangiocytoma. Here is a link to her backstory.
So happy for you all, we can't wait to see the pics! Here are some instructions for uploading to the Forums:
