Hey everyone – LONG story short (because we all know how mom can go on and on and on….)

Mommy went to take my brother buddy to VOSM in Maryland (Veterinary Orthopedic Sports Medicine Group) for evaluation on his hips (baaadd hip dysplasia in both hips) and well, the doc there was so nice and personable that she talked to him about me (even though I wasn't there) and he told her that since I lost my front leg, there is something that will help me when we walk, run and play to give support to my remaining front leg…it's called a “Custom Carpal Wrap”…kinda like a knee brace when people have knee injuries but they still want to play sports. He said it will provide comfort and strength to that area while I'm romping around…BUT not to use it all the time at home when we're just hanging out because it may actually have the reverse effect and weaken it (I guess because then the leg relies too much on it). ANYWAY…I'm getting fitted for mine on Saturday and then they have to special order it, but I'm really excited about it because I already have a little arthritis going on in that leg.

Ask your Vet if you're interested – the company name is Thera-Paw Inc. The website on the brochure is Thera-Paw

I'll let you know how I like it when it comes in!

Happy hopping ~

Love Zeus

Hey this is great to know Zeus, we had no idea they were out there. We like the sticky boots. Do they allow dogs to walk on the ceiling like a gecko? Laughing

What a lucky pup you are for having such a great Mom. We'd love to hear how it works for you, keep us posted.

Thanks for the info Zeus!  We'll have to ask Chuy's PT about this one and see if he can help us get one.

I was looking into getting one of these and Thera Paw sent me to http://www.scou.....shouse.com  Here you can order the brace or other items for pets with limited mobility.  I am going to try one of the Carpo flex sports wraps for Koda

Koda loves his new support brace, you can definetly tell the confidence he has with it on.  He took to it within the first 5 minutes of having it on.

A neighbor mentioned that he was much more secure and active in his running around and this is only 3 days after using it.   I went with the size recommendation of Thera paw and got a small but it seems slightly bigger then I wanted and I trimmed it a bit but I have an xs on order.  I wanted two anyway because he does piddle on the brace when he tries to lift his leg.

I will post pics once I download them to the PC.

We went to get our brace fitted today and UGH...it was WAY too big. LONG story short, the measurements were off and it just wasn't fitting the way it was supposed to. It was too long and was cutting into his "underarm" - not sure what they call it for doggies! So...they are shipping it back with new measurements and I'm hoping that they can just adjust the one that I already paid for. It should be back in next week or so...when we go pick it up, we're going swimming in a pool for the first time. Now...Zeus is a retriever by nature (duh), but he had a bad experience with a pool when he was about 4 years old and I'm hoping we can get him past that as this will be a wonderful means of exercise.

We'll keep ya all posted!

Koda, that's great to hear. We'd love to see pics, and even video if you can. Zeus, that's a bummer about it not fitting right. Hope the next one does.

You two are the first Tripawds we know of to try these braces out, so thanks for sharing. We can't wait to see how they work for you.
