Hello! Our Golden, Winslow is five days out of his surgery. Per the vet's orders he is currently restricted to a carpeted room in the house. I am trying to plan ahead, as we have very slippery floors, and too much of an area to cover with throw rugs. We live on the coast in California where snow and ice is not an issue, just slippery floors in our house. The vet told us that once his restrictions are lifted he will need to wear boots for traction . Any recommendations on a particular brand? Winslow gets hot fairly easily, so I am hoping for something fairly light with good traction . Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Welcome!

I would not decide in advance that Winslow will need boots in the house. Only Winslow will tell you that down the road. Dogs hate boots, for the most part. If they are outside and use them for rocky, prickly areas, they can get distracted enough to wear them with no problems. But most dogs won't like them inside.

If you really don't think you can go the throw rug route, my suggestion would be either socks with traction (he'll still probably hate them) or some of the tacky stuff you can put on his pads. Some people use Musher's Secret and I know there is at least one more out there.

I used the socks for a short while with Dakota and he spent most of his time so preoccupied with them that he couldn't figure out how to learn to walk on 3 legs. Once I took them off, he did much better. Maybe Musher's Secret or similar is what Winslow needs.

Again, welcome to the site!
