Tazzie here: when I first launched myself from the vet clinic, the one that stole my front leg, I did that hopping gait you most often see in the tripawd videos, you know the one that I mean.

More recently, I have been very deliberate, making sure (unless I get too excited which does not happen very often) that one foot is always in contact with the ground. It is definitely a three-legged walk, not a bunny hop. Do any of you do this???

I am thinking of using a trot or a 'rack' such as horses use. The two left legs would move together, then the one on the right. I wonder why more tripawds don't try that.

Chuy does the same thing on occasion, like when he first wakes up in the morning or from napping.  Once he's awake though he usually goes back to the Tripawd hop.  I wouldn't worry about it, Tazzie may just be a little unsure of himself right now and is being careful.  He may not want to embarrass himself by taking a minor spill.  Better safe than sorry!

Chuy's physical therapist suggested a wheelchair for him, but we said no, he needs to learn to be independant and to rely on all of his legs.  The wheelchair would only keep him from that.  Never thought of a trot rack, do they make them in dog sizes?

Chuy, showing everyone that Tripawds do everything 3 times better than regular dogs!
