I have not used this diet and it does not look too bad although I would prefer chicken to be the first ingredient instead of chicken meal.  I have always had good luck with EVO (especially the herring one) and lately I have been adding Honest Kitchen to that.  There are many great low carb options and in general meat should be the first ingredient and if your dog has cancer you should aim for at least 45% protein (unless your dog has kidney failure).  It also matters where the food is produced and if the company shares production facilities with any others.  There have been a few recalls this year due to possible Salmonella contamination and a lot of the foods on the list shared manufacturing facilities with the company that had the primary contamination so then all of the food was affected.

Sometimes you have to find this info on the company website.  I also think it is important that the company should have a nutritionist on staff (many don't).

Thanks for your thoughts.

What do you think about this one:
Deboned beef, beef meal, green peas, deboned lamb, lamb meal, whitefish meal*, herring oil, field beans, red lentils, whole potato, salmon meal, deboned bison, beef liver, lamb liver, sun-cured alfalfa, pea fibre, whole apples, whole pears, sweet potato, whole pumpkin, butternut squash, parsnips, carrots, spinach greens, cranberries, blueberries, kelp, chicory root, juniper berries, angelica root, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, peppermint leaf, lavender, rosemary.

This is out of Acana Ranchlands.

Check out dogfoodavisor.com. Great website that evaluates and reviews the nutritional content of just about every dog food on the market. Easy to navigate.

Thanks! I will check these out. Our 12 y.o. dog just had his RRL amputated 2 days ago (bone CA). While I generally feel confidant about canine nutrition, cancer/chemo is a whole new ball game and I am grateful for the information available on Tripawds' site

Thanks for the website laddie1. I've located the Pulsar and the Acana Ranchlands and they were well rated. Pulsar with 4.5/5 and Ranchlands with 5/5. I'm still a strong believer of Acana after having fed it to some of my dogs for years.
