Hello!

I have a 1.5 year old tripawd beagle named Joey. He is a month out from amputation and we are starting back up his training. Naturally, training means treats! I'm a fan of cooking and baking and I have been making treats for Joey since I got him 3 months ago. Right now, I only have recipes that use whole-wheat flour in them. I want switch to grain-free treats but need some recipes. Please let me know of any good/easy recipes!

Thanks,

Sarah and Joey

Hi Sarah,

Good for you for looking out for his diet!

Does Joey like green beans? I use them to supplement meals and for treats.  Not the best thing to carry in your bait bag though big-grin

If you do use the canned type be sure to get the no salt add variety.

I also searched our nutrition blog on 'treats' and got these results.

I use a ton of treats with Elly for training and nose work and when we are out working on her confidence.  Mostly I use store bought and cut them up into small pieces- Elly is pretty little at about 15.5 pounds.  I do make sure to account for all the extras in her total calorie intake.
