I'll add information on her visit on Mona's blog but she was also given "Power Mushrooms" because the vet is most concerned about future tumours. She said it's to enhance immune functions and it contains herbs that may have anti-tumour effect (based on Chinese research).

We talk a lot about power mushrooms (also K9 Immunity , which are another version but more complex) in the Nutrition blog . Again thanks, we need to know more about their benefits for cats as well as dogs. what brand was she given?

Oh yes, OK we are familiar with that and have it in the blog. Do let us know how she tolerates taking them, and what "tricks' you use to get her to, we're all ears. Good luck!

I haven't been successful getting the Power Mushrooms into Mona until today when I mixed it into canned tuna juice. So I bought some canned food with sauce, hopefully that will work tonight.

I've gone through a number of different foods for her trying to hide the herbs. Yesterday I tried canned salmon with quinoa. Yummm, stinky, it should work but didn't. I gave the rest of the can to a friend whose cat eats anything and she just phoned me to let me know that it's actually dog food. Hey, my cats can read!

I went to a compounding pharmacy who will make Mona some glucosamine/chondrotin in fish flavoured suspension. Has anyone been successful going that route?

Oooh which pharmacy did you go to for that? Interesting.

Sorry to hear the power mushroom pills have been difficult to give. I hope the new food will hide their flavor.

The pharmacy is a small independent store, Pharmasave in Comox, BC, which is part of national cooperative. At this particular store 30% of the business is compounding animal medications. Compounders for Canada and the US can be found at http://www.pcca.....compounder

Success! The ground up power mushrooms when down easily tonight in a saucy wet food which had chicken and veggies.

Thank you, this is super helpful information, we'll have to do a Nutrition blog post about it.

Glad that the secret sauce worked with the mushrooms!
