After a week of not eating, various tests on her liver and pancreas our beautiful, brave fur baby has made the journey to rainbow bridge.
Yasmin survived cancer twice, the first when she was 18 months old - a little mole in her ear, the second when she was 4 years old - a fibrosarcoma in her front right leg. She survived the amputation and countless more post amp ops, including the most serious - bloat 8 weeks after her amputation.
She was a fighter, our best friend. She taught us that no matter what card life deals you, you can not only survive, but enjoy life with a full wagging tail and a spring in your step.
right now we are heart broken.
for anyone browsing Tripawds at the start of the cancer process, wondering if your fur baby can survive, I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart.... Yasmin had 2 years 3 months following her amputation and lived every day to the max, it was worth it. Yasmin was worth it! She taught us how to live and to enjoy life, we did the right thing.
love Kate and angel Yasmin

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Oh Kate, we are soooo sorry. It's been a long time (everyone see what great pawgress Yasmin made) and while this breaks our hearts to pieces, we know that your sweet angel was a champion cancer warrior princess until the end. She will always be a beacon of hope to everyone here.
Please know you are in our hearts, and we are thinking of you both, sending lots of love as you cope with such tremendous loss. If you want to come back and share some photos of her from the last two years we'd love that. This one you posted a while back is one of my favorites:

Kate,
I am so sorry to hear about Yasmin. You gave her the greatest gift that we can give our furbabies. It also begins the hardest part of our journey. No one can tell you when it gets better or if it will. Eventually the tears give way to smiles when you remember her. It doesn't mean you still won't have days that you won't cry. I still have days even after 2 years that I cry when I miss Sassy.
I am thinking of you. Know Yasmin will be there waiting for you at the Bridge.

She loved her splash pool... It wasn't really hers, she captured it every day from the ducks! However the male duck would get his own back and bite her on the tail when she wasn't watching him.
Thanks everyone.
I am still struggling to come to terms with what happened yesterday. We can't move her bed from the living room. Her food is still in the kitchen and her blanket on our bed.
feeling lost and so upset. She was such a lovely girl, my hero really. Missing her so much right now.
when I can face it I will post some photos of her. You have all been such wonderful support. You may be thousands of miles away but you are all so close to my heart. Without your pawsitivity this journey would have been so different.
much love and thanks

Kate,
I am very sorry for your loss. When we embark on the cancer journey we often know where it will end, but that doesn't make the ending any less hard or painful. Yasmin lived life large and is an inspiration to all who knew her.
One of the hardest things I have ever written....Spirit Maggie.
When Maggie crossed I immediately got rid of the bad stuff, the meds and food she wouldn't eat. But her bowl stayed in it's place until Obie joined us, her blanket stayed on my bed for a full year, and her leash and collar remained in the closet. Don't move anything until it feels right.
Yasmin will live on forever in your heart, she will always be by your side.

I am so sorry to hear about Yasmin. Yes, it is so hard. The grief is so heavy, it hurts to breathe. Don't worry about moving any of her stuff if it does not feel right. Some people can't stand to look at it. I was the opposite. I even have a partial package of his favorite blueberry treats. I have finally put everything like that in a memory box with his name on it. He still has his shelf of honor with his ashes and pictures. Take time for you and don't let anyone rush you through this process. Thinking of you, Lori, Ty & Gang
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
I can tell you I was also paralzyed with what to do with Shelby's things ... couldn't change my signature to write "Spirit Shelby" for almost year ... her beds remained in the back of my car. I packed up her toys and have them stored away under my bed so the new little dog doesn't get them.
I still do'nt know what to do with her old collars, clothes (yes, she had dresses for the holidays) and other accessories ... When I finally did get a new dog, I got her a new bed and yet she loved the one bed Shelby had that I had left out. It remains Jasper's favorite today and I know it's because it smells of love, security and a dog that's spirit is bigger than anything.
You don't need to rush to make any changes ... know that we are all here for you.... for forever~!
