I met Nancy on January 7th when she posted a comment on Maggie's blog.   Her pug Willie Bean was nearing the end of his cancer journey and Nancy was having quite a hard time.

Willie had a malignant melanoma tumor in his mouth.  It was removed last September and Willie went through the melanoma vaccine treatment I wrote about last year.  Only two months later the cancer came back.

I exchanged emails with Nancy, mostly just listening, but also sharing my experiences with Maggie.

Nancy let Willie Bean go on January 15th.

It's pretty obvious why this story touched me so much.  I know none of you ever knew Willie Bean or Nancy, but you can all relate to the heartbreak that these cancer journeys bring.

I know that Maggie greeted Willie, and showed him all the best laps to hunker down on and get a good pug snore going.

Poor Willie. Yes, we can totally relate. The loss of a great dog touches us all.

Maggie and Willie are having a ball, I'm sure of it. Tell Nancy that we are thinking of her and her sweet pup.

Willie Bean must certainly have opened the raw emotions of Maggie's journey.  Yet, you were able to connect with Nancy and offer her the experience of someone who had been on that journey.  You're an awesome lady, Karen.

I, too, extend my deepest sympathy to Nancy on her loss.

RIP sweet Willie Bean.  Run Free at Rainbow Bridge.
