Missing this guy ever so much. The kids have really been struggling with the loss of their best friend.
We have Wendel's ashes with us now and we plan to release some of them to the wind on his 3rd birthday...February 1st. We had an early birthday celebration before he passed (the kids wanted this)....and the balloons are still full of air and are sitting in a vase in my daughter's room.
Wendel was a free spirit (read escape artist lol). One of our fondest memories is from our first winter together. Wendel escaped and came home carrying a frozen McCain's cake. We have no idea where he got the cake...but boy was he proud. I think releasing his ashes to the wind will do his free spirit justice.
Thank you for all of your words of encouragement.

LOL on escape artist! And to think he went out to get a treat to bring back and share with the family, that's special. Most dogs woulda eaten the whole thing, and then come back to throw it up on your rug (our family dog when I was a girl) heheh.
There is nothing about Wendel's passing that can possibly be easy. He was a young, vibrant dog and he had to cross long before his natural time. I know you miss him, I am so sorry. Maybe you and your family should sit and talk about it. Is there a favorite spot that Wendel had that maybe you could free some of his ashes? One person in here had some of their pups ashes sent out and made into a gem that went on a beautiful ring. https://nitro.t.....-revealed/ I had to hunt around for that, but it was a beautiful tribute that I may one day do myself with my Rosie's ashes.
I love the pictures, and you know Wendel will always be with all of you in spirit. I wish there was a way to make it easier but only time will help you all to process this sadness. Wendel was indeed a special pup. Another thing you might want to consider is a small flower garden. A special place for Wendel. Of course maybe your idea is best and scattering his ashes in a special place may be what all of you need. It is all ultimately whatever you feel will help you through this process. I just thought I would throw a few other ideas out there for you.
Sending you and your whole family warm hugs and lots of love,
Jackie and Huck

Darling Natalie 🌷
It is always extremely hard to come to terms with the fact our pups have an extremely short life span compared to ours and to have to say goodbye to a pup as young as sweet Wendel is totally heartbreaking ...
Sadly, we cannot control life and can only do the best we can and make sure we and our babies have a wonderful time together.
When the time comes for our darling pups to earn their wings we cannot but set them free to fly and explore the Universe on their own.
They are never too far from us, though, our love bond is indestructible and eternal and nothing can change that.
We, who are left behind, have a much harder time because even if we are given signs of them being with us in energy form, that doesn't alter the fact we cannot see them, cannot hug them, cannot smell their beautiful fur ...
Wendel is not gone, he is flying from cloud to cloud with all of our Angels and he is happy, Natalie, happy and pain free.
He is right there with you and will be around you when you release his ashes.
Sending you all my love, sweetie and wishing you peace in your heart 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹
