We said goodby to Wendel today. He struggled so much this past week. He was on this earth 2 years and 7 months...and is now gone too soon.
Thank you to everyone on this site who has been supportive since Wendel's amputation a little over a year ago. I rarely post, but come here most days to browse the posts.
I am so sorry. His time here was way too short, but I’m sure he’s standing on all fours at the Bridge bragging about how much he is loved by you.
Keeping you and Wendel in my thoughts.
David and Rocky (and Baxter now too!)
Rocky had his right front leg amputated on Valentine's Day 2017 after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
He joined the September Saints on September 3, 2017.
He is the toughest, bravest, sweetest and best friend I'll ever know.
I'm so sorry. Knowing it might be close doesn't make the goodbye any easier.
Not only is it so hard when the youngsters get this awful disease it seems to be a particularly aggressive beast.
Even though his time with you was far too short I know you made the most of each moment together.
The special ones never really leave us- Wendell lives on in your heart and so will always be by your side.

I am so sorry for your loss. This is a hard thing to do when they grow old but especially when one so young as Wendel. This is the hardest part of the journey too. No one can tell you when it will get easier either. Watch for Wendel's signs he will give them to you. Your love for him will never end.
hugs

Ohhh I am so sad to read this, my heart goes out to you, I'm truly sorry. He was so young! Cancer... AGGH! Your Wendel is what keeps believing in the scientists who are working hard to get rid of that awful disease. It has to happen. Cancer is so mean, and I want it gone, darnit.
Your sweet boy had the best family ever, he was surrounded by love every day, and he left this earth feeling like a treasured part of your family. Cancer didn't take away any of that from him, or you. What a gift! He had the best life ever thanks to you, and I hope in some small way knowing this can help ease your broken heart.
Please do let us know how your family is doing OK? It won't be easy for a while, and we will still be here for you as you cope. Wendel will always be our hero, and you a part of this community. I'm so sorry.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I know Wendel meant the world to you, and you to him. You did everything you could and took the best care of him. My thoughts are with you, I cannot even imagine losing one so young. I am so sorry.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Canine cancer is especially difficult because you can't ask how they are feeling. It really leaves the burden on the owner to make the right call.
I can confidentiality say that Wendel was blessed with a great family that helped him on his earthly journey. Although, he was taken to soon, he touched many lives and will be remembered forever.
Bender and Wendel can finally play like never before without any pain or limp. I have no doubt that we will see them again one day.
Thank you everyone for your kind words. This weekend has been tough. Wendel made our house a home, and it feels empty withought him. Here are two pictures. The first it from the first day I held Wendel when he was only 2 days old. The second is the last picture we have of him.

The Rainbow Bridge certainly had some of the best dog Souls ever to join the September Saints. While they are all celebrating a wonderful "welcome home", we humans are left trying to figure out how to navigate through our grief.
I was so very, very sorry to read that the adorable Wendel had to shed his earth clothes so he could run free. My apologies for not posting here sooner, I just couldn't find any words. Not that there are any words, but I so vadly wamted ro find a way, like we all doo, to try and veing you comfort. But words never came. And they still haven't.
Wendel was so special to us. Such an inspiration. Such a happy boy. He was a gentle Soul who had a hard fighting Warrior Spirit. He kicked statistics to the curb and did everything on his own terms. No chemo, no never ending Vet visits, just spending the most magical time any dog could EVER hope for by being with the family he adores, and who adored him. He really showed us all that, even in spite of the setbacks that he eventually encountered, he could still find a way to enjoy being Wendell.
I keep scrolling backup to that ADORABLE puppy picture of Wendel. Beyond being the cutest photo ever, it shows how he is nestled next to your heart where he was born to be, and where he will ALWAYS stay 💖💖💖

I've been thinking about Wendel, and wondering how you are doing. If you feel up to it, drop us a line. And if not, just know that you are in our hearts.
